I have a 1993 VW Passat VR6, My problem is when I try to start it, I have no spark from the spark plugs..What could be the problem or how do I fix this?????

  • Anonymous Nov 18, 2010

I have 1993 Volkswagen Passat GLX VR6. The fuse box is located under the dash on the drivers side. The fuse box has slots for 22 fuses on the bottom row. An Two (2) rows on top for relays, Each row has Six (6) slots. These relays are numbered, Not every slot has a relay. This is where my problem comes in.... I need to know the relay number, and what slot it goes in. Starting with the top row numbered 1-6 then the second row numbered 7-12...The fuses are laid out in order in the owners manual, But don't cover the relays... Hope you can help, Waiting to hear from you.....

How to change the transmisson oil and filter on a 1993 vw passat with a vr6

My service manual for a 90-93 Passat makes no mention of a VR-6 engine but here's what it says for the regular auto transmission.
Loosen the bottom pan bolts and let the old fluid drain into a catch pan. Remove it and clean it . Replace the strainer (filter) if it can't be cleaned or is damaged. Replace the pan gasket, be sure the 4 corner gasket spacers are in place before tightening the bolts.Torques are 71 in-lbs for the filter and 89 in-lbs for the pan bolts.

To check the fluid level, the engine and trans must have a minimum of 6 miles of driving on them before the level is checked. The engine is running when you check it. The 20*C mark is the cold level.

VW recommends this be done every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

I just gave my '93 VW Passat GL a tune up, because the plugs, the distributer, and the button were all bad. The car was misfiring when running, but after the new plugs, wires, distributer, and rotor...

You may have the firing order wrong or the distributor may have been installed 180 degrees in the wrong position. Just because there is spark doesn't mean it is getting there at the right time. I have done this before and it is easily rectified. Please let me know if this helped! Thanks!!

Have a 97 VW Passat VR6, it died one day as the check engine light came on, it would run for a few minutes and then die, running shorter each time. Took it in to the shop and got the fuel pump replaced,...

You need to check fuel pressure at the fuel rail.if pressure is at spec. Check spark at the plugs. Also replace relay for fuel pump if it isn't working. Could be a bad new fuel pump. Pull the codes first.

1995 volkswagen passat vr6 wont start the injectors are getting fuel but its not getting fuel to the engine. The injectors are getting spark and the fuel pressure is good.

if it fires then dies, you have to reset the alarm system with the key/remotes???otherwise you need to plug in the diagnostic computer(saves hours of "fun")

95 passat vr6 giving problems

Adjust or replace the shiftlock sensor. It unlocks the shifting mechanism when you put your foot on the brake.

If there is an ignition problem, the tumbler will need replacement soon. This can be caused by an overloaded keychain. Best to do it now while it still is working, then have it fail and leave you stranded.
