Hello I have a 2008 dodge dakota that wont start. It stopped running while i was driving it. It started shaking like a spark plug was bad then just stopped. I havent been able to get it started since. all it does is turn but never fires. The battery is good I changed all the spark plugs a few weeks before all this happened. It has fuel pressure. It has gas. I changed the crank postition sensor. I hooked up a computer to it to check to see if any codes would come up none did. The odometer displays the mileage then it displays "no bus". i dont know what that means. help please.

Clean your negative battery cable end and battery post. The "no bus" usually is caused from a bad ground.

Check your ignition module. If that is not it, I recommend checking your ignition switch i.e. the thing you insert you key into when you start. There is a possibility that your ignition switch is bad.

if it wont turns over and theres no spark it means that ur alternator is done..buy a new 1 and there ya go.,..problem solved :)

sounds like the distributor may be faulty and the timing is out.try moving the distributor.loosen off the lock bolt on the base and move it slightly.mark the original spot first. The other thing is make sure the plugs are the right type.platinum plkugs will not run in some engines.
the spark gap for the 5.2 is on the label under the hood.

It can affect mileage, but it might not be the valve. EGR systems tends to get clogged by gunk. Take the valve off and see how dirty things are. If the system is clogged up, take apart as much as you can to clean it up. You can test the valve for operation with a good scanner (autozone doesn't do this--they just tell you the code). Here are instructions from autozone.com:
Linear EGR Valve Diagnosis
The linear EGR valve diagnosis procedure varies depending on the vehicle make and model year. Always follow the recommended procedure in the vehicle manufacturer's service manual. The scan tester may be used to diagnosis a linear EGR valve. The engine should be at normal operating temperature prior to EGR valve diagnosis. Since the linear EGR valve has an EVP sensor, the actual pintle position may be checked on the scan tester. The pintle position should not exceed 3% at idle speed. The scan tester may be operated to command a specific pintle position, such as 75%, and this commanded position should be achieved within two seconds. With the engine idling, select various pintle positions and check the actual pintle position. The pintle position should always be within 10% of the commanded position. When the linear EGR valve does not operate properly:

If the EGR valve did not operate properly on the scan tester and tests 1 through 5 are satisfactory, replace the valve.
