I'm having a fuel problem i just change my fuel pump and the jeep not starting the fuel lines are clear cause i can **** fuel with my mouth from the main line coming form the tank up to the pump.if i throw gas in the carburetor it will start till it runs out but the pump not working.
Friends samurai, when purchased, has a electric fuel pump but enginewas converted by putting on a carburetor. motor idles and runsfailry well until you get to higher speed. The engine then bogsdown and dies out. What are my options? He has had thecarburetor rebuilt and there is a in line fuel reg. also installed onthe fuel line. I think it was a shadetree mechanic that made theswitch before friend bought the vehicle. Any tips to fix theproblem would help. This is a deer lease vehicle and not drivenon roads. I just ran into this problem as I was rebuilding my 1.3 engine. When you put the mechanical pump back on, you have to be sure the rod that pushes against the pump is all the way in, check this with your finger, you should only feel about 1/4 inch of the rod, if you should feel more, turn the crank with a wrench until it goes in all the way. Then put your pump on making sure that you start both mounting bolts before you begin to tighten, as you tighten gently pull back on the top of the pump, so the lever will line up with the pumps push rod in the head. Your pump will work fine after that.
Unplug the line after the pump meaning not the one coming from tank but the one from pump to carburetor, then crank the jeep and haved some one tell you if fuel pump is pumping at that line, if it does then your problem is the carburetor and not the pump,
i will apreciate the ranking, thank you and good luck
I know this is old but it will happen again to somebody I'm sure. Usually when your pump doesn't work after being replaced it means you need to pull it out and very carefully align the little arm with the pushrod that comes out of the head. Hi, You need to plug this into a code reader and see what codes are stored the most common reason for the engine cutting out is internal fuel pump failure will also cause poor starting
try and pull the carb and check your jets and make sure that they are cleen and air filter be perty cleen if that does not work and you thing it is a fuel problem then check your fuel line and fuel filter and see how cleen they are it may be as simple as dirt clogging your fuel or something worse but try that
