I have a 1997 Acura CL 3.0(123,000 miles) and the tranny seems to **** late and a little rough, but the main ? is that the engine when in neutral revs up and down and doesn't sound good i replaced the ECM and was fine for a bit but then started the reving up and down(between 1,500 and 2,500 rpms) and shifting very weird.. please help!! could it be the TCM or an EGR??

Shift Soleniods go bad i would get the part off ebay just b/c of price, and change the fluid in the tranny sounds like it is old use honda OEM trnny fluid only, it fix this problem on my cL, it will work for you.

That happened to me when my tranny went out. did it intermittently for two weeks when all of a sudden if felt like i was driving with one gear, then it wouldn't go anywhere. It failed on me @ 99,731 miles. so it was covered under warranty. Good luck.

I am fixing to change my EGR valve and the piece of paper that came with the part say this:

Important Notice
Before installing this part, check the EGR valve passage in the intake manifold and clear any carbon blockage. Failure to do so will result in repeat malfuntion of the EGR valve system. Refer to a technical service manual or contact a service dealer for proper cleaning procedures.

The Transmission is likely shot. That year along with others had transmission defects. My new 2002 TLs died at 21k miles. I go to Acura for most all service and they gave me a $1500 discount on a tranny. It still cost me $3500.

Wow..thats not good..first have motor mounts checked, maybe the tranny mount or possibly if ur car has it is the driveshaft bearings...good luck on the oil leak...maybe tranny fluid..make sure if ur losing fluid that ur checking them incl. the tranny fluid...u might find ur leak first of all by rechecking the oil cap where it is supposed to be ...same with all fluid caps.

have autozone scan it they can give you the codes hope it helps its freee
