I let my van warm up for about 10 mins. or so, and the gauge reads half heat. But there is no heat coming out of the vents. I noticed that the top rad hose was rock solid when I tried to squeeze it. It actually over heated one time. Which I thought meant that the t-stat was possibly stuck. But later it through out some heat, then it happened again. The heat seems to work in spurts. Can someone help me please. I have a 3.3L, Auto trans., Grand voyager LE. If you need more details please let me know. If so please give me an address where I can get back to you at. Thanks in advance.

the temp gauge should be reading around the 1/2 way mark and the pressure is controlled by the radiator cap. Check the catalogue at you local spares shop and the cap recommended will hold the correct pressure for your car.
Possible coolant leak on hot engine parts causing it to evaporate as it leaks. That would definitely invade the cabin air.
You would need to carefully check under the hood with the engine warmed up and running.
Also could be a headgasket failure between coolant channels and a combustion chamber. This latter problem sometimes shows itself as vapor at the tailpipe after there should be no more visible. You may also detect the odor of coolant there too.
overheating is most likely a bad thermostat, but the coolant loss is a second big concern. Does the exhaust look like steam? You could have a cracked block and the coolant is leaking into the engine. Also check the oil for contamination.
sounds like a blend door problem gm uses plastic clips to hold actuator rods that tend to break easiest thing to do is take it to a shop that offers free heater checks. and let them check it out
As for the fan your blower resistor is in need of replacement. To address the heat problem I'll need to know a couple of things 1. Does your vans temp gauge read in the normal range or is it running low(after you've driven it for at least 10 min 2. Is the out side temp really cold?
sounds like your low in coolant. this will cause an air pocket in engine and cause erratic temp readings/loss of heat check coolant in radiator when cold. and add
