Hallo. I have an Volvo S80 V8 2007 mod. (Its registrated in the end of 2006) I live in Norway, so i guess that I am one of very fuew poeple in this country with this car (as it costs ab. 200.000 dollars with our taxes) Well, the problem, happend today. I drove the car, like normally. Suddenly the engine started to chase up and down from 1000rpm til 2000rpm.... ****.. it was unstable. When i stopped and put the gear in P. The engine was unstable at 1000rpm. It really sounded like the engine was only goin on 5 of 8 cylindres or something. I got fault "engine power reduced something" in the display. I tried to drive home, but it was not going faster than 20mph. I tried to stop and start a few times, without result. So I had to call for help NAF. So now the car is at a Volvo workshop, I know that they dont have any experience about this car. I have only got this car for 3 weeks now, and I am really nervous about what the fault can be ? And I pray that it will not be so expensive... ?? Someone ? help

usually multiple clicking (like a machine gun) does indicate lw battery voltage. did you get 11.9 volts with it running or car off? with running you should be over 13.6 min up to 14.0 volts. these cars have a fair amount of electronics with some residual voltage draws which may shorten battery life. 4 yrs is not too bad. i would consider replacing battery

Have tried getting quality gasoline at a reliable station? It sounds like water in your fuel system. Add a couple bottles of Iso-Heet fuel system dryer everytime you fill up the next few times, and that should cure it.

If you are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine cools down and the thermostat switches it off.
