Ok...you mentioned that there is no spark coming from the coil when it's in no start...Is there power from the alternator going to the coil? One other item...If the timing chain is worn and stretched, it is possible that the cam sensor and crank sensor are out of phase with each other, just enough where a temperature difference will change starting ability. One question...while in no start, have you tried changing the throttle position while cranking to see if it lights at part or 3/4 throttle?
Most common cause is the crank sensor...It tells the computer when to fire off coil. Cam sensor does this as well but is less prone to failure. Don't change parts because I said so! Proper testing is essential! Test b&c terminals of sensor with an ohmeter. There should be no continuity there (same as when the ohmeter probes are not connected to anything) Terminals should be marked on harness connector.
sounds like yor car is in limp home mode. Funny name I know but its true. You may have lost your cam sensor so it went it this mode. A car won't start with out a crank senor but it will with out a cam sensor it just takes a few revolutions of the engine. Find your cam sensor and replace it hope this helps you
