Have a 2003 chevy 2500 that will not start. It was running fine and then i went to get into it and when i turn the key, i get power to everything and i can hear the fuel pump kick on but the engine will not turn over. Also it is a Army vehicle and somebody lost the keys to it so we had to beat the ingintion switch off so we could put a screw diver and start it that way. Does the chevy has a security thing at stops it from cranking?

I believe it has a PassKey type of module that requires the correct key inserted in the ignition key cylinder before it will start. It is extremely difficult to disable it, but you may be able to figure out a way with the wiring diagram for the truck (check a service manual or try Alldatadiy.com).

SOURCE: vehicle just keeps cranking wont start.

Make sure that your fuel presure is up to at least 60 psi if not that could be your problem. If not, make sure you are getting spark, if not could be your Crank sensor or ingniton module ECM. Usually if your Engine control module wouldn't be bad because of your fuel pump is working, but may not be putting out the proper pressure for the fuel system. Fuel Pumps are a Problem with that year..

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank

Fuel pump is most likely the cause. Probably just barely making the required pressure to start. Needs to maintain 60-66 psi while cranking to start.

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500..the truck was running fine then we turned it off and when we turned it back on again the gauges all went haywire and the vehicle would not start again we jump started it...

Bad battery or alternator. Jump it again and with it running, pull off the positive battery cable. If it dies, its a bad alternator. If it stays running, its a bad battery.

2003 lincoln navigator can't shut truck off

Under the hood you will find things called Power Boxes. They can be marked with plastic molded labels and the one with "Fuel Pump Relay" can be removed from its position and all power to the fuel pump will end. Then you need to disconnect the Negative Battery cable to save the battery and kill anything electrical.

Be aware that the Anti-theft will be inactive. You can lock and unlock your car with the key.

You then need to have the ignition switch serviced.

08 Chevy Cobalt wont start. Battery is good.?

Generally speaking, if the starter was dead it would not jump start.
Sounds like the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to know if the starter has power when the key is in the start position.

98 chevy 2500 wont start after cutting off while i was driving

Turn the key to the on (not run) position and listen tosee if you could hear the fuel pump turn on (prime) for a few seconds. If not, check the fuel pump fuse and if its good, its probably a bad fuel pump.

How did it die? Did it feel like you were out of gas?

I was driveing down the road in my 2003 ford f150 and all the lights went dim along with the guages going down like it was going to die so i gave it some gas then everything went back to normal later when...

this sounds like bad battery conections. take a part the terminals and clean off the corrosion. more than likely the is some corrosion that is hidden and once everything is clean and tight it should fix your problem.

Turns over but wont start. 1997 chevy 2500 4x4

Check to make sure that the grounds are good on the engine...the scanner error could be that...and does the service engine light come on when you turn the key to run position? If not, I would take a close look at the PCM.
