Your vehicle is equipped with vehicle stability control, what the system does is prevent the car from going out of control due to a skid, it does this by applying the brakes at each wheel very quickly to straighten the car out in the event of a skid like on ice or a wet road, the system is part of the ABS (Anti-lock brake system), when the light comes on and stays on it means that something has failed in the system and the computer that controls it has disabled the system

Are you sure it says "Stability Control"? You need to have a system scan by the dealer or a well equipped shop, this takes a special tool to read the system fault codes, and there will be fault codes in memory anytime a waring light like this is turned on..

I have an 04 Tahoe with AWD. Last night the Stability System Disabled warning flashed across the green screen above the steering wheel for just a few seconds and then went off, never to return so far. Is there any significance to this? Any reason I need to be worried?

I just bought an 2004 Tahoe LT and the reduced engine power light is on. And, the stability sys disabled light is on what does this mean

It means you have a problem with the electronic throttle control an with Stability control which is part of the electronic brake control module ,which means there are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the ( EBCM ) & in the PCM -powertrain control module . You should take to a ASE certified repair facility or the dealer !
