Way up under the dashboard, is your blend door lever that is opened and closed by the termperature control cable. We often find that the part that holds the cable sheath has come loose and no longer holds the sheath such that the cable inside will move the lever to open the door. I show the location and then a close-up of the mechanism below. You need to check to see if the cable is actually moving the lever and if not, reclamp the sheath so that it does. Please let me know if you have more questions.

I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 the heater does not blow hot air but the inlet hose to the heater core is hot on the inlet and outlet side thermostat heats up to 200 degrees

If both heater hoses are warm/hot,look under the dash at the heater core area and look for a air blender door lever.it may be disconnected .Or try to open it manually which should allow the air flowing through the hot heater core to enter the vehicle.

If only one hose is hot the heater core may be plugged internally.disconnect the heater hoses and back flush the heater back and forth with a garden hose until you get a unrestricted flow of water.

When disconnecting any heater hoses just clamp them off so you do not have to drain the complete system while working on "just" the heater.

2002 nissan altima heater problem

have 2002 altima, blower works no heat at idle and very little heat when accelerating.I changed carbon cabin filter, made sure little gear under dash to temp knob wasnt broken, flushed and bled system.Nothing worked so checked hoses to heater core and found inlet hose was hot, outlet hose was not.So investigated this problem and came to conclusion heater core was clogged. An easy way to check is to get car to normal running temp. put on heater and blowers at full.Go under dash on passenger side where counsel meets firewall, this is where heater core core inlet and outlet aluminum tubbing go through firewall, you will be able to feel both tubes one closest to you is outlet, so if this one is not hot and and other is your heater core is clogged.I detached both inlet and outlet hoses to heater core from water control valve. Then I blasted water with waterhose and nozzle set at jet, first through outlet hose to blow gunk out, then through inlet hose until water runs clear.Reatach hoses fill and bled system.heater works great nice and hot!

Where is heater control valve on 2003 dodge ram pick up

THERE IS NO HEATER CONTROL VALVE ON THE WATER HOSES. NEW HEATER CORE. INLET LINE right before heater core hot, outlet after core look warm. Burped cooling system 5 times with engine at operating temp. Installed homade burp VALVE right after heater core outlet(high part of hose). Still no heat. Removed water pump, impeller still in good shape not stripped off shaft. Removed heater core hoses flushed water thrue the connections on the block to the water pump INLET and outlet. flushed water thrue heater core and hoses. Going to put it back togeter today. Used known good gauge to check water temp for operating temp in test. 195 f

Trying to locate the heater inlet hose for a 1998 dodge caravan

I had a 98 caravan for 3 years, but I don't have it anymore. Going off memory but I recall both the inlet and outlet hoses are near the center of the firewall directly below the windshield. If it is a 3.3. or 3.8 the Intake Plenum is kind of in the way, but it is not difficult to remove.
If you are planning on removing the heater core, good luck. I have heard the whole dash must be removed.

My van is over heating there is coolant and water in the radiator it started leaking underneath towards where the front passenger seat

The problem sounds like either the inlet or outlet hose to the heater core is cracked or split. Or the heater core itself is at fault. Need to inspect the hoses from engine to the firewall going to the heater core for damage. If no leak from the outside then problem will be on the inside under the dash. Hope this will help you.

1994 dodge caravan. No heat. two hoses ar e disconnected. One is from firewall. Is there a part missing.

If it is an inlet hose, there should be a valve that allows water into the heater core. Usually, when someone disconnects these particular hoses, it is because of a leaky heater core. You may have more issues after you reconnect, however in order to get heat, they will have to be connected and if your heater core then leaks, (in the passenger side floorboard), you will have to replace the heater core as well. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

The heat in my 1994 dodge caravan does not work. The van will heat up and then I try the heater sometimes it starts to then it fades to coolness.

Sounds like a partial plug in a heater hose or the heater core itself. There's not a full flow of water and it cools off faster than its replenished. The hot water valve may not be opening all the way either. Backflush the heater core, run water from a hose the opposite way it normally flows,Thru the core to clear it. Check hoses the same way. Also chech them for soft spots the hose may be collapsing internally. If the engine is not overheating the water pump is probably ok . if it is running a little too hot the thermostat may not be opening all the way either/ Replacing it could help too. 2002 caravan WHICH heater hose is the inlet hose at the firewall? the top hose or the bottom hose??

Usually the top, but you can hold your hand on both hoses as the engine heats up and the inlet will heat up first.
