SOURCE: 99 F250 V10 Sputtering

It takes just one of the coil on Plug units to cause sputtering and severe shaking. Fortunately the prices have dropped slightly for the coil units. The bad news is it is still close to 100 bucks from the Ford dealers. I have had to replace 3 of these on my 1999 F250 superduty V-10 since I bought it new. I believe there may be some compatible aftermarket units out there for high performance V-8 engines, but can not confirm compatibility.

SOURCE: Choke Light rough idle

adjust your carb, the 2 screws on each side of the carb adjust so you can get the car to idle correctly, also check your distributor

SOURCE: truck sputters and dies when you put it in drive or reverse.

Most Likely a vacume leak. Check the engine and surrounding engine bay for a loose hose. I would check the mass air sensor, make sure it is free of debries.

Which sensor?

I doubt it is a sensor because a faulty sensor would turn on the check engine light. I would look at fuel pressure in case the problem is a weak fuel pump or pump relay.

1987 Dodge Dakota Sport 3.9L V-6 Runs beautiful for about 10 min then starts cutting out , i have to pull over but it doesnt die. When i pull over and stop the problem seems to go away, get back on th

Well the diesel effect is from the idle speed being too high or a buildup of carbon inside the engine acting as replacement spark plugs.
Can you use starting fluid to find out if the cutting out is from lack of fuel ?

1989 Mercedes 560 sel, w126, Car will start and idle fine for 10 min. then stall and will not restart until next morning...

catalytic converter is clogged basically its stopping up your exhaust. Over time the pressure will slowly vent out, allowing your car to start, only to build up the backpressure again, stalling engine.

Sounds like the module inside the distributor. Have to be replaced.

Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

88 Toyota Corolla backfires through carburetor.

If that is carbureted, and has a mechanical fuel pump, try running a length of fuel line from inlet side of pump to a gas can that has fresh, clean fuel, and if it runs good that way, you know problem is most likely in the tank. Removing the tank & cleaning it out is best solution from there. I'd even be tempted to add a small bottle or 2 of Lucas Fuel Sytem Cleaner to first fill in clean tank, just to help clean lines as well as carb.
