05 cobalt what engine Turbo? auto or manael trans all wheel drive or front wheel drive. Built for US market? what country was the car built in? what country is the car sold new in? On the 2.0 it calls for 2.7 hours so if hes charging $125 per hour that's about right the gasket costs about $4.00 as it's just a tube of silacome. why does the oil pan need a new gasket unless it's been removed for some other reason it's not lily to leak. the valve cover is known to leak as is the oil presure switch. niether one rrequire removing tohe oil pan. the super charged 2.0 is different but about the same time the oil cooler lines are also known to leak and they need to be inspceted to see if just tightneng them or has the rubber started to fail and they need to be replaced.

iam lucky to get 10 euros an hour ,125 dollars is some 150 euros an hour ,you sure about this i can get some rumanian woman in to clean house and look after me and cook the grub for a week for less than this

  • Anonymous Nov 27, 2010

i told you I was worried about it needing an oil pan job of any kind. Theres other leaks that are much more likly and cheaper to fix. My shop charges $60 per hour but it's unlikly that the oil pan is leaking unless it's been removed for some other service. the valve cover is more likly to leak. Just take the car to a different mechanic, and have them verivy that the pan is the leak and not something else. If the rear main seal were leaking it requires removeing the engine from the transmission and that job might cost $400

I have no way to know what things cost in a Euro based ecomony. factory workers in car plants and the places that make high profit idems make 45 per hour and stroe workers make about 8- 10 mechanics working for a car repair shop. that in United States, Kentucky

Price to replace oil pump on 98 gmc sonoma 2.2l 5speed truck. Also what else is a good idea or has to be replaced while this job is done. Truck only gets about 5 pounds oil pressure after started

There are a number of things that contribute to oil pressure, the pump has very little to do with pressure. I will say I have seen a lot of issues with the pick up screen inside the oil pan becoming clogged. I would suggest hooking up a manual gauge to verify actual oil pressure, then if it is actually low I would remove the oil pan and check the pick up screen first. You're looking at 11-12 hours labor at a repair shop plus 100-150 for the pump if you want it replaced. Plus gaskets and oil.

How much to fix a leaking oil pan gasket on 2001 saturn sl2

Depends on shop rate. But looking at about 4 hours labor plus parts. So I would guess around $300 to $500. I'm guessing you have the 4 cylinder. So it could be more as it is old and parts break removing them. Like the rusty water jacket that runs under the engine.

2001 sable oil pan

Sounds like he is just going to reseal the pan it is very labor intensive and the price id about right as the exhaust has to be dropped down to access the pan and bolts plus the clean up of the mating services if you get it done demand he install the FELPO OS30717R they fixed the problem with the oem gaskets it cost a little more but well worth the money and no future headaches

I WENT TO THE DEALER MY 2003 FORD ESCAPE NEEDS AN OIL PAN GASKET THEY WANT 400,.00 DOLLARS.I THAT THE RIGHT PRICE FOR THE JOB IF NOT WERE CAN I GET IT DONE CHEAPER

Average labor $80 give or take, only need to remove the plastic on the under side (4bolts) the exhaust y-pipe (6bolts) then remove the pan (15bolts) and put back together, should only take around 3hours, check around at other shops.

2001 VW Passat, has 120,000 miles. I'm told the

You didn't tell us in which currency that '2780' was quoted but if US $, that seems unreasonable to me.
Timing belts can cost >$100 but not often and vary in degrees of difficulty to replace; on one of our cars (87 X1/9) it's about a 30 minute job. A Subaru Outback is more like a couple of hours so yours is likely in that range somewhere.
Valve cover and transmission gaskets aren't normally that tough to replace and cost little; check one of the chain auto parts sites to verify that. It only takes a few minutes to run up the potential parts cost and the labor should run well under a $1000 total.
Now you have a second opinion but, get a 3rd one in person.

Think I need oil pan gasket

It's probably the front crank seal or the cam seal. Kinda big job for a novice. The car only has one oil pan. The back one she refered to is for the transmission,if it's automatic. Never saw a oil pan gasket leak on a nissan '96 & up.

How much will it cost for a mechanic to change oil pan gasket on my 1998 chevy blazer 4wd big v6 engine?

Gasket = $35 (permatex rubber)
Labor - my manual says 3 hours.
You'll have to be responsible for figuring out the labor price per hour depending on where you are located.
In MI, a garage is about $50/hr, and dealership = $85/hr
CA might be $95/$150/hr.

Parts are minimal on the job - its all labor.
Figure in about $20 for shop supplies... gasket remover, sealant, rags, etc.

Leaking gasket of tining belt

do you have a 3.1L V6? The timing cover gasket seals the timing components, it is located behind the belt drive system (alt, a/c, p/s etc.) all of these components must be removed to change this gasket, also the oil pan lower seal gets changed at the same time. The oil pan gasket includes the rear pan seal and the side seals and on for the rear of the pan, the engine must be lifted out of it mounts to change this gasket. It takes time to do these repairs and each shop has an hourly rate per hour on labor. The cost of the parts will be relatively the same at any shop, labor will differ. I hope this helps to answer your questions.
