SOURCE: 2000 VW jetta; what is the torque for valve cover and plenum
I briefly looked online and did not see any info direct6ly relating to the torque spec of the cover bolts. I would guess around 15 ft lbs.--not too much--the head is aluminium--best way to go is to walk up to the service counter of the VW dealer and ask him to provide that information. You have the car and they built it!

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.

You'll need to remove the intake plenum, unplug and label any hoses and connectors. Number and remove the spark plug wires at the plugs. Unbolt the valve cover. Clean everything well. Reinstall. Tighten vavle cover bolts from the center, out.
