I have a 1996 Dodge Neon. When the car warms up, you can be running along fine and all of a sudden, it will lose power. The car will spit. lunge and sputter until the engine dies. The car will usually turn over right away after you put the car in park or neutral. When you try to push gas pedal down to accelereate, it's like the car doesn't know it's suppose to go!

Nikki is the engine light on, are there any codes, have you had a tune up or any other work done lately.when you say it won't start when warm(do you mean engine will not turn over, or does engine turn and refuses to fire.
If I had to guess failing fuel pump, they tend not to build fuel pressure when ran a while(warmed up) and when left to cool build somewhat better pressure.

does your car have AC.... ? ac problems can make a eggy smell also a damaged catalytic converter do the same. eggy smell can be the gas from the ac leaking out. you would need to have this check as it can do harm to your lungs..
Have to loosen pivot bolt at bottom of power steering, plus top adjustment and use 1/2" drive bar in hole supplied in bracket to add tension, then re-tighten.
Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any sign of gas being sucked into the line. A failed regulator will let extra gas get into the engine. If it's okay, have the fuel pressure checked. That's sure a lot of gas, way too much for the engine. Good luck.
well its a long shot but it could be your catalytic converter is going bad or is clogged, i have seen them get so hott they glow red. this sometimes can be seen at night by looking under your car after it has ran to the point of stalling and dieing,, if thats the problem the car cant exhaust creating back pressure that robbs power and can cause your car to die.. after it cools the metal shrinks back and the car will runn again untill it getts hott.. i hope this helps
When was fuel filter last changed, if not lately, I'd suggest trying that, and if that doesn't cure it, have fuel pressure tested. If it does it more so after running for a while, I'd try to get it into shop for fuel pressure check when it happens. Those have been known to start losing fuel pressure after pump gets warmed up after running for a while.
you have to get scanned for fault codes..possible camshaft sensor if you have starting issues..if car is working fine, could be an evap leak..let me know
If your check engine light is on have it checked it will probobly say output speed sensor circuit malfunctin. If this is the case it can be taken to the dealer for replacement the sensor cost about $80 plus an hour labor $40-50.
