After coasting down a grade, my 2008 Equinox stutters when I accelerate to continue up the other side. A diagnostic check revelead nothing although the "engine performance light" came on, there was nothing in the memory. The next time I turned on the ignition the light did not turn on and has not for the last 4 times I started it. Appears to be the torque converter - does this make sense?

Assuming that you feel and hear the engine smoothly accelerating while the stutter occurs, you are probably looking at transmission. Torque converter? possibly. A full diagnostic of the transmission is certainly in order as there are a number of things that might cause that condition.

It sounds like the torque converter clutch. Just unplug it. It is the square 4 pin plug on the front of the transmission. Once it is unplugged and you get it unlocked, it will be fine. Just leave it unplugged, it won't hurt anything.

SOURCE: 2000 Impala LS, 3800 engine has been 'missing'

you sure its missing and not a torque converter shudder . as a auto tech some times its hard for me to tell the difference. it it was missing it would throw a miss fire code not a torque converter code at 126 k sounds the the trans needs to come out and a good tech needs to rebuild it

My 2006 chev equinox was driving fine but then the check engine light came on...when I went to accelerate there was nothing the vehicle would not move...also the TCS light came on as well

TCS light is for electronic throttle control . This will set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code ! Your best bet is have it taken , towed to a qualified repair shop .

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.
