mine is a 1990, beleive it or not, it hooks to the negative side of your coil under the hood facing the front of your truck it will be on the right hand side, (black is ground and red is hot for the light)
First disconnect the positive battery cable. You already have the bolts out. pull the starter back and down and it will drop out. do not let it hand from the wires. Disconnect the wires to the starter. Pay attention as to which wire comes off what terminal. They must be attached correctly or your starter will not crank after installation. Then the last thing you do will be to hook the battery up again.
As a RULE I NEVER replace Electronic parts with used parts, you dont know what you have in a used Spedo head. Possible that Magnetic pickup at transmission is good. A Problem like this on MY Personal Vehicle I would go with ALL New parts Including Wires.
