SOURCE: location of cam position senor

Not a bad job to replace the cam position sensor, it took about two hours cost about $150.00 with oem parts. First remove air filter box, remove plastic spark plug cover. Jack up engine about an inch remove engine mount. Now you can access sensor through a convenient cover that mounts around engine mount bracket extending from engine block.( one ten millimeter bolt) Remove accessory drive belt for a little extra room and replace with new one while you are in there. Just between the two cam gears you will see a torx screw that aligns the switch when in installed. DO NOT REMOVE THIS Just above the torx screw is a reverse torx screw (6 millimeter) Put a shop rag in the access hole to catch the screw just in case you drop it ,( so it does not fall into timing belt cover) Put something "sticky" in the 6 millimeter socket such as gasket sealer to keep from losing screw. remove. Pull switch up from inside spark plug cover and install new one through the same. reinstall 6 millimeter bolt. Switch is self aligning. Reinstall belt, engine mount, air box. Doing this myself probably saved me about $150.00 to $200.00 dollars

SOURCE: 03 suzuki aerio automatic transmition won t shift into overdrive

You have two temperature lights that come on when you start the car, one red and one blue. After the car is started the red light goes out and the blue one stays on. According to the manual, (and from my personal experience with my '03 SX), the car needs to warm up to a proper operational temperature. This temperature is reached once the blue temperature light turns off, (or within seconds afterwards). If you don't allow your car to warm up you will notice hard or long shifting, rough idle, and poor engine performance. Never drive your car if the light displays a constant red temperature light.
If this solution does not work see a Transmission expert of take it to your local Suzuki Dealer.

SOURCE: hard up and down-shifting into 2nd gear - manual transmission

I have a Focus that had shifting problems. I tried different fluids, but eventually I tried Royal Purple Synchromax (I believe) and it actually shifts fairly well now. I used to hate the car for this. It has 130k miles and I like driving it now.

Suzuki Forenza error code P0782

Well code 782 is for a problem with the 2-3 shift solenoid or the circuit back to the engine computer. The solenoid is inside the transmission.
Code 722 was for a problem with the speed sensor. You could have a wiring harness problem.

Whhen to change timing belt

Most companies recommend replacement at or before 80,000 miles. It is an interference engine which means the valves can be damaged if the belt breaks while the engine is running.

Mini Cooper Transmission Relearn Procedure

If the gear selection display on your Mini Cooper has an x before the gear selected,

like xP or xD or xR, then you need to run this procedure.

The usual cause of this is a dead or disconnected battery for a long period of time.

First make sure you have a good battery that will hold a charge or fix the charging

system problem.

Get the car someplace where you will be able to drive for a mile or two without

interruption on a fairly level road.

Follow ALL steps and don't skip anything.

Clutch Adaptation

1. Begin with a cold engine and start the car. Shift to N for 10 seconds, then shift

to D for 10 seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

2. Repeat the following ten times. Shift to N for 3 seconds, then shift to D for 3

seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

3. Repeat the following ten times. Shift to N for 3 seconds, then shift to R for 3

seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

Step-up Ratio Adaptation

1. Accelerate vehicle to a speed greater than 80 km/h. Don't be afraid to go above

the redline on the tach for a few seconds. At this point the car may buck and snort

a little as it tries to get into a higher ratio. As soon as it settles into a higher

gear and the revs are above 4500, rpm let off the accelerator quickly. Don

You are going to need a transmission shop. Mazdas do not always throw codes. You have an early OBD transmission, which do not send out many codes.
