There are recalls on certain 2005 Nissan Xterras for a faulty ECM unit. I just found out mine is part of the recall. Give this website a look see and call the number to find out if yours is as well.

AutoZone has a lot of info on torque specs for various vehicles.
The Xterra uses torque to yield bolts which must be replaced every time the bolt is removed.

Nissan starting problems

The reason your gauges are jumping is just from the vibration of the engine fluttering when you are turning over the starter . It sounds to me like you are not getting fuel . If you have a 2012 I am sure its under warranty I would call the service department were you bought it because if you fool with the vehicle you could violate the warrenty.

2006 Nissan Xterra not changing gears and vibrating side to side

Disconnect the battery to take all the power out of the ECU. Check each fuse manually buy pulling each one. Wait two hours, put the key in the ignition but not turned, and reconnect the battery. Wait a further 15 minutes. The ECU and antitheft system will be reset. Cross fingers and start the vehicle.

On a 2002 nissan xterra does the speedometer plug into the transmission

Personally, I would take it back to the tech and make him do it (my customers would not hesitate).

With that said, the answer to your question is YES. The Vehicle Speed Sensor (if your vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission) is located on the right rear of the transmission housing.

When engine is warmed up the car begins hesitating

I really think it's the TPS, (throttle positioning sensor) on the throttle body. When this sensor is defective or out of position the vehicle will idle like that and even stall. If you haven't had it scanned, you should do so, that will probably tell you the problem.

We are having the same problem. We are right now changing the crankshaft position sensor along with the intake and manifold gaskets.

Fuel Gage reading E after I Fill up.

the problem would be that of the fuel gauge which in newer models are mounted in the fuel tank, or the fuse for the gauges are burnt out, or there is a loose connection
