Yah sure check the fuel pressure on the manifold, ur belt tension and altenator. But a very common problem with jeeps is the crankshaft positioning sensor. Check and make sure ur gettin fire. If ur not could also b the ignition control module in the distribitor.
This is a old post but wanted to suggest a fix for anyone who might come across this problem. The problem obviously started with the act of kindness (jump start) and so is more than likely computer related. You'll probably find a "reboot" is in order and that's simple. Just take off your negative battery cable (good time to do a little cleaning while you're at it) and replace it. Start it up and you'll probably find the problem is gone.
quite possibly it may be taking a little while to build fuel pressure. next time try cycling the key on and off 3 or 4 times with out cranking the vehicle to allow the pump to build pressure the try to star it up if it starts right up then your problem is it's just taking time to build pressure
take off your distributor cap and turn the engine over, does the rotor spin around? if not might be your timing belt! and if it does spin it still could have jumped a tooth on your timing belt? can you poor a little gas down the carb ? will it try to start? if it does but backfires then your timing belt may have jumped a gear or two...
Sounds like the fuel pump is going bad. There is an anti-drainback valve inside which may have failed. Have a more competent shop check it out. (or , just repalce pump)
