The ignition security on/off is located at the trunk lock. unlock and lock rear gate and the alarm will turn off. My jeep sat in my drive for a month before a jeep tech told me this. It still triggers the security sometimes when I unlock the passenger door with the key and I go straight to the rear gate lock and it shuts off instantly.

I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee, to turn off alarm use the key to lock and unlock the drivers door. This should cancel the alarm.

Sometimes even locking the drivers door doesnt work like my jeep. i had to diconect the negative terminal and put it back on and it resets all the locking. dnt be alarmed if ur lights start flashing its normal just lock the driver's door and unlock it. it fixed my locking problem. if u do this u may have an issue with idling at first its fine cause the computer is reprograming itself just put ur foot on the gas and rev. it high for a few mins and it will clear.

Use the remote buttons for keyless locking and unlocking the car.
Close the doors.
Push on lock and then on unlock.
The flashing lights should stop.

98 jeep Cherokee had completely dead battery jumped it with another vehicle alarm went off and horn blared till I turned on the ignition jeep started now when I turn my jeep off five minutes later the...

Sounds like a relay stuck on that killed the battery. I keep my parking lights on so I can see when the unit starts (no other feedback). Problem comes in when it starts and I don't know it, Parking lights come on and won't shut off till door is opened.
I think this is what killed my battery. I need to return to the installer and and have a relay installed so lights shout off when engine is off.
Hope this helps!!

My 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo wont start, everytime I try to start it, it makes this loud noise like a buzzing sound, and then the security light starts flashing and the brights light starts flashing...

If your battery has not been drained, try unlocking the lift gate or the passenger side door. That should disarm the alarm. You may need to get a jump if you're getting the flashing lights.

Another thing it does is to shut off your fuel pump. If you get it started after trying the above procedure, the issue is definitely your alarm system.

It is armed whenever you normally leave your car (using power locks seems to arm it on my 94 GCL.

There is a permanant disarming procedure on FixYA but it is pretty radical -- you have to find one of the wires that sends the signal to the alarm system from one of your door locks and ground it.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee alarm keeps randomly going off.

this happened to me recently with my 96 grand cherokee. the battery got drained by the alarm going off randomly at night. i pulled the fuse for the horn so at least my neighbors would only be bothered by flashing lights. then i couldn't jump the car because the alarm was still going off. i hooked my car to jump it to another car, and then i had to deactivate the alarm first by putting my key in the driver side door and unlocking the car. then i left it hooked to another car and still getting power but didn't jump it for at least 5 minutes in case the computer needed to reset. then it jumped fine. from what i've read online, this is a common problem that can be avoided if you stop using the power locks and always manually lock and unlock the doors with your key. its a little annoying, but apparently the power locks are connected to the alarm issue. hope the same works for you.

I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee that won't hold a start

check your starter wire as mine was loose and did the same thing every time you interupt power to the alarm system it will flash the lights unlock the drivers door with the key and this will rearm the alarm and the jeep should start up if this is the problem rember to have good battery conections and a good batt first or else this will keep hapening also after 20 starts you may have to do the key thing again
