Vehicle won't shift correctly. Start the vehicle, accelerate, shifting works but upon coming to a stop, the vehicle will not up/down shift until the vehicle is turned off and back on.
Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!
Code 1776 is the solenoid pack, located on the valve body, inside the transmission. It's pretty common on this transmission. You need to drop the pan, filter, and valve body to get to it. Part is around $300 and about 2.5 hours labour to do it. Plus New fluid, and filter. So it adds up to over $700, unless you do it yourself.
I had the same problem with my 2000 Intrepid going into limp mode after I put it on the ramps for an oil change. I replace both input and output sensors X2 (just in case we got a bad 1), complete tranny flush, changed the TCM, reset the PCM a million times, disconnected the battery cables for a week, the list goes on. 3 months and a drained bank account later, I had the TCM quick learned. I didn't have a problem for 1 1/2 years until I backed over a pretty high snow bank with 1 tire. Went into limp mode that night. I'm having it quick learned on Monday.
Have the vehicle scanned for codes, checked by a reputable transmission shop in your area.It could be electrical, solenoid block,TCM,input or output speed sensors, valve in the valvebody,or even an internal problem with the trans.
2002 dodge intrepid cylinoide pack replace it and it will fix it it's about 150.com to fix it
This same thing happened to my car . codes are p1776 and p0700 . How long can i safely drive my car like this .. payday isnt until next friday and i drive about 23 miles to work one way .

Lets all get together and form a class action law suit. This should be a recall. but no body has been killed yet.Our tax dollars get to bail them out so they on keep making defective products.I wounder would they except defective money for there cars.
Hello
The engine
and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train
are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM
(Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the
computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some
exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature
sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in
its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems
memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read
you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and
resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A
TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR
HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Vehicle won't shift correctly. Start the vehicle, accelerate, shifting works but upon coming to a stop, the vehicle will not up/down shift until the vehicle is turned off and back on.
My 2002 Intrepid has the same issue.it shifts normally for about 15-20 minutes of driving, then the trans well **** when I come to a stop and will not shift out of first gear till it is turned off.
my car will not **** into any gear while it is running
03 intrepid transmission problem, codes are p0700 and p1776. know what the codes r just need someone to verbally diagram it for me
had the same problem been to shop 3 times soleniod pack replaced, value body cleaned out 3 times. still doing it. can it be something with pressure---pump, switch ???
My 2003 Intrepid keeps dropping into limp mode more and more in the last 2 weeks. I changed out both speed sensors, reset the computer by disconnecting the neg. battery cable for about 15 minutes. Everything worked good for a about 2 days, now its getting worse. It pops out of gear sitting at a light and forces me to restart the car. I wonder if a tranny flush will clean out the solenoid packs and valve bodies?
My 2003 Intrepid keeps going into limp mode more each day now, even after I changed out both speed sensors, reset the computer by disconnecting the neg. battery cable for about 15 minutes.
Now the car pops out of gear sitting at a light forcing me to restart it. I wonder if a tranny flush will clean out the solenoid packs and valves fixing this problem?
I own a 2002 dodge intrepid 2.7 liter since day one and recently i have experienced after the car gets warm the check engine light comes on and shortly after upon having to stop at a light the car will down shift hard just before coming to a stop. Once starting out the car sticks into second gear and will not come out until i stop the car and turn the ignition off and restart it. Once i restart it it is fine for a little while longer. I have already replaced the two speed sensors and the computer at a 600.00 cost and still no fix. PLEASE HELP
