I have a 99 ford Taurus single over head 3.0. Having an issue with a rough idle and no heat. Just replaced the thermostat and water pump. The old water pump was the worst I had ever seen. I have flushed the system I know 5 times. Anyone know what the rough idle or no heat could be and are the related.

What was the worst about the pump?I don't know what that means? the no heat could be a clogged core, try to flush it in both directions and make sure water flows freely. As for the rough idle... is the car overheating or pushing out coolant? if so there could be head gasket issues?>?

1995 taurus overheats while driving

Either Thermostat is sticking or water pump is going bad. Water pump usually spit out water through small hole of diaphram. Only way to check thermostat is pull it out. Then you might as well replace it.

I have a 99 Ford Taurus that continues to overheat. Last November I replaced the thermostat and it's housing. I also flushed the radiator out, but continues to overheat especially while idling. Does anyone...

start with the bascis, need good coolant in the system, if you have been adding a lot of water then you need to drain and fill with fresh coolant, you have allready replaced the thermostat, make sure you have no coolant leaks, would be easy to notice due to coolant on the ground or tracing, do you have good air flow throught your radiator assy, if the front grille area is clogged with dirt/bugs/debrie then it has no way to transfer heat from the coolant, need to check and clean it out, next would be to check and or repace your water pump, the fins on the back side of the pully which you cannot see untill you pull of the water pump could have rusted away which means no flow.

Having problem maintaining water temp after water

This is either an air lock or a leaking headgasket. Remove the rad cap, with the rad full, watch for air bubbles. You didn't tell us if you were adding coolant??

Over heating and anti-freeze spilling out of resevoir tank. New thermostat, new water pump, new resvoir tank, radiator 1 year old, new gasket seals. Can not figure out why it is leaking.

Your head gasket has blown or the cylinder head has crancked. You are getting compression in the water system thats why you are getting spill out from resevoir tank.

99 Taurus 3.0 Heater problem

You may need to remove the hoses from the heater core inlet an outlet and flush it directly, I saw these get plugged up on many cars like yours while I was a Ford technician, direct flush of the core cured the issue.
