Just recently my car started to over heat. The fan to the radiator will not turn on I checked the fuse I changed the temputer senor and fan switch senor and it still doesn't turn on it just starts to over heat. Has water and antifreeze. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Also sometimes when I take it out of Park it makes a popping sound and jumps alittle, it does it also when i sometimes turn could it be the transmission or the shocks or both?
Not sure about the popping thing, but about the fan, try hot wiring the fan motor to the battery to make sure the motor is not burnt out. could also be a relay or a fuse link. I'm working on a 95 and having trouble locating the fuse links. I replaced my radiator fan motor, thermostat was busted, dropped new fuses in and a relay. Still no fan action. Mine must be a fuse link. If you are lucky it will be something quick to diagnos. Good luck.
Actually I found the problem with the fan not coming on. There are two more seriously hidden relays. Unbolt the air filter housing (12mm socket, 3 bolts). Move that out of the way and near the fender there is a rectangular shaped object with one 10mm bolt holding it on. Its there hiding. Unbolt it, its a rubber boot on it covering the last two relays. Mine were melted. Advanced was gonna special order one that they could have gotten for $70 but not the other. Forget that. I went to the ford dealership and ordered the right ones, both for less than $70. The problem is one of the wiring harnesses melted, but I'll get around that. sure going fast the radiator cools better (higher gears)

5 year old hemostat should be good

1: dead bugs plastered to radiator or front AC condenser. (back blast it with water hose nozzle)
new RAD do check condenser, same fix, cleaned.
2; belt slipping to water pump.
3: water pump impeller rusted to 1/2 its normal size

There are three relays and two fuses that power the radiator fans. The computer grounds the relays to make the fans come on. Have you checked the fuses and relays for power ?
Cooling fan not operating properly or cooling fins in radiator are clogged. You are not getting sufficient air flow through radiator until the vehicle is moving.
verify the plug of the fan and the fan switch located in termostat housing, if all are pluged in remove the conector of fan switch and short it with little piece of cable, if fan turn on replace the switch! it cost around $20. if the fan no turn on when short the conector verify if the fan conector have 12v if have it changer the fan motor if not check the fuse.
Check your coolant level. If the coolant is low it won't pass through the heater core, therefore you get no heat. The overflow bottle really isn't an accurate way to check the level, actually remove the radiator cap and look in there. You should be able to see the coolant near the top. BE SURE THE ENGINE IS COLD BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP!!!
mist likely you had the oil changed recently and they knocked off the wire to the sending unit that tells the fan when to come on - the fan only comes on all the time - -when the AC is on or as you state the defrost is on . I hope you have a regular mechanic as he will be a hands on friend if you ask him.
Could be head,or head gasket blown.But change the thermostat and check to see if the cooling fan comes on after it warms up.Be sure not to have ac on.Watch the temp.be sure the fan starts and runs good,and then it goes off by itself.If the fan does not come on,then check for a blown cooling fan fuse,or a bad cooling fan relay.Be sure the cooling system is full,and has no air in the cooling system.Coolant sensor could be bad also(this is what tells the ecm to turn on the relay that controls the fan.When the radiator is full,and the engine is cool,or cold,start the engine with the radiator cap off,and look to see if coolant gushes out of the radiator while the car runs.If ti does,head,or head gasket is blown.
if the fan is not going on then this is most definatley your problem. The water in the engine and radiator circulates around the inside of the engine block, drawing away heat and carrying it to the radiator, if the fan is not working to draw air across the radiator and dissapate the heat then you will overheat. Try checking the radiator fan fuses in the underhood fuse and relay box, if there all good check that the fans are indeed not coming on. they will start when the thermostat opens and close when it does. if no fan operation, check for power at the fan plug, if not change the fan assembly.
Yes, it is possible the temp. sender is faulty, but I would do a cross check of the actual coolant temperature vs gauge reading using a cooking thermometer in the top of the radiator.
Take care not to get scalded - check it at about 180 to 200 deg.
engine coolant temperature sensor unit!? you say you had a thermostat issue some times if you over heat these the switch above might cause malfunction! I just spent 7 hours on relays!! with engine running un plug coolant sensor temp switch if your fan comes on you have no relay issues!! or ground problem keep in mind this switch tells the system the temperature then when reached sends signals to relay the fan to come on! when I unplugged mine fan ran plugged it back in off!!! replaced switch works great this is the true way to test don't get$$ it out hope this helps you out also be sure you have no air locks in your cooling system and you properly bleeded out all air sense you changed thermostat.John
