SOURCE: 93 honda civic ex sputtered and died while driving
Is there any white smoke coming out the exhaust? Sounds like the same problem my friend had when he warped his head on his 91 civic. Any overheating at all? Otherwise another guess would be maybe a bad catalitic converter that clogged up. Hope this helps any, good luck

My brothers 97 silverado did the same thing. He replaced the fuel pump and the problem stopped.

Your timming belt has jumped a tooth.Remove the covers and check that all teeth are ok.Then tighten or change the timming belt.I would fit a new timming belt.Has it is costly when they fail.Good luck.pippall.

It can be many things. This vehicle is 14 years old so I suspect it needs some tender care. Start by replacing the spark plugs and plug wires. Replace one at a time as to not get confused. Replace the rotor if equipped. Check all vacuum hoses and replace any that are cracked. Replace the fuel & air filter. Purchase a can of Seafoam or Techron fuel injector cleaner and pour one can in a full tank of fuel. If none of this helps then scan the ECU for trouble codes which will help you to know where to look for the problem. The code will not tell you exactly what is wrong, but will instead tell you what component is being effected. If the truck has over 100,000 miles on the odometer you may need a new O2 sensor.

Make sure your distruibutor rotor in turning while cranking engine, if it is timing belt ok, more then likely your not getting spark to spark plugs check your ignition coil, but more then likely it's going to be your ignition module.
