Question about 1999 Jeep Wrangler
Possible water pump bearing. Maybe anything. If you push on the clutch and it is still there, when in gear, it is nothing to do with the gearbox or transmission.

I had the same problem at about the same mileage. Replaced the power steering pump and the start up screaming went away! ( The Jeep's and mine!)

yes, sounds like the starter solinoid whent out, if it shorts out it can stay running, it must be replaced ,there is no quick fix, if its a manual trans you can push start it. i dont know of any internet tips.

Could be one of several items...I'd check the fuel pump relay, auto shutdown relay and the ignition switch itself. I'd bet on it being one of those relays but, we all have been fooled at least once!!! I'd also make sure that body and engine grounding is good and clean. Relays can't work properly without a good ground.
