SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Dakota Pick-up will not start. Battery

2 things could be happning. your starter motor is bad. or you are not getting enough amperage to the motor. chech the condition of your positive (red) cable at battery and starter and look for any green fuzz type corrosion.

SOURCE: 1992 dodge dakota ignition switch

the mechanic should check the ignition switch, the wires, the fuses, the ignition assembly ,the rotor coil, the starter solenoid and the connection of the ignition switch to the battery . If there is a worn out or destroyed spare parts then repair or replace them .the wires , if there are loose wires or worn out wires reconnect them or replace them.the fuses if there are worn out or destroyed fuses then replace them also. These are the causes of electrical problem of truck .If these said spare parts are being checked or replace then the car problem can be solved. the truck won't start because of some electrical problem not being seen . to be checked. And don't forget the connection of the battery to the ignition system . if there is a wire loose then re connect if worn out then replace.

How do you change the ignition lock cylinder on a 1990 dodge dakota?

I just recently had to replace the ignition lock cylinder on a 1990 Dodge Dakota. If yours is anything like mine the ignition lock cylinder you need is for a 1989 Dodge Dakota. All you have to do to replace it is remove the center of the steering wheel and the steering wheel. Next you will have to remove the lock plate. After you do that you should be able to pull everything else out of the way. Then all you have to do is take a flathead screw driver and pop the old ignition out. You will need a steering wheel puller and a steering wheel lock plate remover. The best thing to do with the lock cylinder is to go to autozone or whatever store you use and match it up. Good luck
