2001 F-250 4x4 super duty steering problem

The vehicle during turns left or right when returning to straight the steering wheel pulls violently for a split second back opposite of return which i correct manually and then it is fine. It has new power steering pump new steering damper new brakes pads rotors and calipers. It has original steering parts ball joints tie rods ETC. It feels as if the wheels are turning back for a split second and that is transmitting to the steering wheel any ideas where to start?

Sounds like the problem is in the valving in the steering box. You may have to get a new steering box. i would get it checked.

Also check your radias arm bushings that connect the front axle to the frame.

Why does my car pull to the left as soon as I let go of steering wheel?

That's a mess. Something is bent in the steering or suspension linkages. The tire is scrubbing because the wheels aren't pointing straight. The CV Joints also need checking. Your vehicle is dangerous to drive.

Wnen ever i apply brakes at a stop sign it vibrate ot when i turn left it vibrates

If it tries pull the steering wheel back and forth, it is brake rotors. If it just vibrates threw the body and steering, it is the right side wheel bearing.

What is a total toe adjustment sleeve on a 2006 f 250

There are two sleeves. One that adjusts total toe and one that adjusts the steering wheel. When you turn the total toe sleeve, it will push both wheels away causing more positive toe or pull them in causing more negative toe. You get total toe where you want it and then you set the steering wheel straight using the second sleeve.

2001 f250 pull to left at all speeds

THe left brake caliper could be sticking on which would cause the vehicle to pull to the left at all speeds. Drive for a short distance and check carefully if the left wheel is hotter than the right. If it is hotter it's a good bet caliper is sticking

How to install a new steering gear box on a 1998 Grand Marques?

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the stone shield.
  3. Tag the pressure and return lines so they may be reassembled in their original positions.
  4. Disconnect the pressure and return lines from the steering gear. Plug the lines and ports in the gear to prevent the entry of dirt.
  5. Remove the clamp bolts retaining the flexible coupling to the steering gear.
  6. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  7. Remove the nut from the sector shaft.
  8. Remove the pitman arm from the sector shaft with a suitable pitman arm removal tool. Remove the tool from the pitman arm.
  1. Support the steering gear and remove the steering gear retaining bolts.
  2. Work the gear free of the flex coupling and remove the gear.
  3. If the flex coupling did not come off with the gear, lift it off the shaft.
To install:
  1. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position

During installation, position the steering gear input shaft as shown on 1992-98 vehicles

  1. Center the steering gear input shaft with the indexing flat facing downward on 1989-91 vehicles. On 1992-98 vehicles, center the steering gear input shaft with the centerline of the 2 indexing flats at 4 o'clock.
  2. Slide the steering gear input shaft into the flex coupling and into place on the frame side rail. Install the retaining bolts and tighten to 50-65 ft. lbs. (68-88 Nm).
  3. Make sure the wheels are in the straight-ahead position. Install the pitman arm on the sector shaft and install the lockwasher and nut. Tighten the nut to 233-250 ft. lbs. (316-338 Nm).
  4. Move the flex coupling into place on the steering gear input shaft. Install the retaining bolt and tighten to 20-30 ft. lbs. (27-41 Nm).
  5. Connect the pressure and return lines to the steering gear and tighten the lines. Fill the reservoir and turn the steering wheel from stop-to-stop to distribute the fluid. Check the fluid level and add fluid, if necessary.
  6. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from left to right.
  7. Check for leaks.
  8. Install the stone shield.

When turning hard right or left a noise occurs not sure if it is awheel bearing or 4-wheel drive u-joint

Raise wehicle and use long handle prybar and try to lift the wheel straight up. If it is play then you have bad bearings. Please Note that wheel bearings will make grinding noise igf they are bad on any speed above 25Mph no matter that you turning your steering whel or not. Grinding noise from turning your steerin wheel it is comming from sterring pump. Check your fluid.

2000 f350 super duty 7.3 drw steering seems to lock up on hard right and left turns. wheel shakes untill i stop and restart. i can sometimes stop the shaking if i quickly turn right and left while driving....

The control valves from the power steering unit lock in position at extreme angles. Either the fluid is dirty - replace it - or the unit is worn out - valves can be replaced separately and the unit refurbished. Or just buy a new unit.

Steering seems to be binding

sound like it has a control valve seal problem internally in the steering box, assured that the linkage is good, this can be dangerous due to loss,or forced steering at any time...focus on replacing the box......GL....be safe
