My 1998 Express van brakes started smoking recently too.
I changed the brake hoses and the smoking stopped

Bit worried about the smoke...indicates pads being in contact with the rotor. Make sure that system is completely clear of air bubbles. The ABS light is actually unrelated to brake condition. The ABS system (and traction control) make use of the speed sensor on the output shaft of the transmission and further speed sensors on the individual wheel hubs. The ABS system monitors the signals from the all the sensors. If any one wheel runs much slower than the others when braking is applied the ABS system relieves brake fluid pressure to the caliper on that wheel. The speed sensors consist of magnetic devices detecting the teeth of the reluctor rings on each wheel hub and on the transmission output shaft. If a sensor is at fault or a reluctor ring is corroded, dirty or split then this causes the ABS light to come on. Check all the wiring to the sensors and that all connections are clean and bright. Next check the hub reluctor rings.

I'd first make sure the new pads are the correct size. Doesn't happen very often but maybe the parts person gave you the wrong size pads ( for the smoking problem). As for the ABS light, most newer cars will throw out codes if you wait too long to change them out, I would contact a chevy dealer or search online about reseting the code (light).

1998 Chevy Express Van I change the rear brakes the drums in the hardware I have a loud pulsating vibration in the rear when I press the brakes can it be my anti lock brakes sensors lost help me

Doubtful it has anything to do with the ABS. Sounds as if the rear brakes are over adjusted or you have an out of round drum. Even though being new, I have experienced many problems with brake drums especially if they are not brand name

Running light problem on chevy express 3500 box van

Vehicle electric trouble shooting is the worst. Some of the problems you described the bulbs may have multiple filiments with only some burned out. It may sound silly but change the bulbs. Get a couple of new bulbs and try them in the different spots. Time, road vibrations and spring pressure causes the contacts on the bulbs to wear until they get a poor connection then you get a little arcing that build up a residue and a bulb that test good doesn't work.
Your on the right track with the ground wire. Try a test lamp with a good gound connection and test the different sockets, if your test light works but your bulb doesn't you have a ground fault. If neither work check the switch and fuse before you start tracing the wiring. These are just general trouble shooting tips It's very hard to trouble shoot electrical problems sight unseen.

2001 chevy express van 3500 while driving security light comes on dash then engine shuts down , once pulled off the road it will start back up.. did this 3 times on hour drive.. feels like gas pedal just...

You need to get the codes from the theft deterrent module.Usually a B2960.This will help in the diagnosis of the problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1989 G20 Van right front brake is locking up when applied. Calipers replaced. Did not fix problem.

The piston is binding in the wheel brake cylinder, perhaps a bit of rust in the cylinder.
Inspect it, replace wheel brake piston and maybe the cylinder if you can't make it "smooth".

95 G20 Chevy van: ABS light stays on, pulls right when braking

You actually have two separate problems. The brake pull to the right is indicating the left side brake is not working properly. You will want to remove the left front wheel, collapse the caliper piston and make sure the caliper is floating freely on its mounts.
With the piston collapsed you should be able to slide the caliper inboard and outboard of the rotor. If not, you will want to remove the attachment pins, clean and lubricate the pins. If they are grooved or worn you will have to replace them.
The second issue of the ABS light is indicating the system has detected an electrical sensing or control problem. Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto and ask them to scan the vehicle for trouble codes. They will scan it for you at no charge.
Chances are you will find a wheel speed sensor problem at one of the wheels.
Write the codes down and respond back, we can start diagnosing the problem,
Good luck, let me know.

ABS

Is it the ABS light alone or is the red brake light on also.
Your best bet will be to go to your local Auto Zone and ask to have your trouble codes read. They will do it for you at no charge. Write the codes down and reply back to me and we can start to diagnose the problem.
Good luck, let me know.

92 dodge van rear ABS-brake and ABS lights on/can't reset?

Its probably how your bleeding your brakes, but first make sure the bleeding nipples are facing upward. You should bleed diagonaly, front pass wheel then rear driver wheel. Then front driver wheel and rear pass wheel. The abs light has its own computer your have to get it scanned to clear the codes and turn off the light
