When Jiffy Lube changed the oil in my 2009 Ford Expedition, they did not reset the "Change Oil" message in the instrument panel. Since I set out on a trip immediately after the service, I can't just go back in the shop to have them reset it. Is there any way I can do this reset myself??

You can leave it,it is a gadget, not tied to any system

You should have an owners manual (still) on a 2009

Never go the Jiffy Lube

Read all the damage and horror stories ,on quick change
places.

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change (approximately 7500 or 6 months) Perform the following:

1. Press RESET control to Display "HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL"

2. Press and hold RESET control more than 2 seconds. Oil Life is set to 100% and "OIL CHANGE SET TO 100%" is displayed.

3. ***OPTIONAL*** Once "OIL LIFE SET XXX%" is displayed, release and press the RESET control switch to change the oil life start value. Each release and press will reduce the oil start life alue by 10 percent. For example from 7500 miles to 6750 miles etc.

Note: OIl Life Start Value of 100% equals 7500 miles (12070 km) or 6 months. For example setting the Oil Life Start value to 60% sets the oil life start value to 3000 miles or 120 days.

Good Luck,

Mileage

There is no reason you cannot go 6000 miles between oil changes. I have a Ford explorer with 250000 miles and I changed the oil every 10000 miles. I never had any engine trouble - it is still running very well.

I can tell you that it sounds like someone is trying to take you for a ride.. I've been a mechanic for 28 years. And I've never heard of o rings going bad on a motor that only has 56000 miles. Change the oil filter again.. make sure that it's not a fram.. gram filters have been known to cause your oil pressure light come on. Hope this helps you.

This is how it works on my 2010 Escape. There are 3 buttons to the lower left of your steering column (Info, Setup, and Reset):
1) when it's displaying the "oil change required" message, hit the "reset" button to get rid of the message2) then hit the "Setup" button twice and you'll see the "oil life" screen, which is now at "0%". It tells you what to do next (i.e. "hold reset" until it says 100%).
