Yes, a knock sensor can cause the check engine light to come on. I would change out the sensor and see if you come up with any other codes.
Testimonial: "thank you i will have to have it replaced "
a knock sensor alone will NOT cause a check light, there is another code causing the knock sensor one to come up, replacing the knock sensor without finding whats causing the code will be a complete waste.
Bull!!! my girlfriends 2003 xterra v6 non sc has had the knock sensor changed at inspection time twice due to the check engine light bieng on with the single code of P0327 (knock sensor) we have payed aprox $1000 total and each and every time the check engine light comes on just after leaving the inspection station! I am so tired of morons saying this will not trigger the check engine light as her xterra sits in the garage again due to not passing inspection due to a bad knock sensor and the check engine light is on again with the single code of p0327! if anyone would like to scan it themselfs you are welcome but when i prove you wrong you get to fix the thing!!
Check the Idle air control valve
Hi, No disrespect, I have same problem but with both my knock sensors. The idle air control valve is not causing it. I was told today to take knock sensor back out and check to make sure it that it is staying plugged in tight. Because if its not as you hit bumps in road you will lose connection and cause engine to come back on. Makes sense so om gonna give it a shot.
sorry cause engine light to come back on.
