did u replace the heater hoses as well. When u run your ac an idle up valve raises your rpms slightly whitch will pump more coolant. Other than that they should have nothing to do with one another.

yeah hose and clamps are the cheap easy way to go there, or if your lucky, the leak is right at the spot where the hose meets the metal and you can just cut the end off and put it back with the old clamp

Vickie, your heater core and duct work for it, are all above the location you are getting drip from. So it makes sense that the heater core is leaking. Link to video will show whats up.
