yes same problem engine stalls and will restart

  • mattbakes03 Jul 25, 2008

Hesitates to start at times. Stalls at stops,(usually when turning) surges forward, sputters on freeway at times.

I am having the same problem. My 2005 Nissan Altima has been cutting off at stop signs or when ever I begin to slow down. If I leave the car idle it will cut off, on the highway it jerks periodically. Now my check engine soon light is on. So far Ive had my air filter replaced, throttle body clean, and new spark plugs. After doing that, the next day my Check engine soon light came on.

About a month ago, one morning my car wouldn't start. Checked the battery and it wouldn't even take a charge, so I replaced it. Started up just find. Just yesterday, it wouldn't start again. Something is draining the life out of the battery in a matter of a month or two. Took my mom's car to work while my dad was able to charge the battery up. Worked fine this morning, but now currently is in the shop to find out what's going on. Heard about the sensor recall and mentioned it to the mechanics. Hoping that's the cause and nothing more.

I had the same problem, my car turning off while driving, and I had to replace the Crank shaft sensor..worked fine for two weeks, then it wouldnt start. Just kept cranking but not turning over, now need to change the Cam shaft sensor!!! Apparently, there was a recall for the crank position sensor, and you can take to the dealer and they will reprogram the ECM for free, but thats it!! The crank sensor is $45 and change, and the cam sensor is 35 and change.. But that is just for the parts, not the service.. If you google cam shart sensor for altima 05, you will come across a TON of complaint sights with people having the same problem!! Nissan is ignoring the situation as of now.

I just read this post I have had the same problem here with the start up issue replaced the crank/cam sensor the fault code was cleared out by the MM next morning after having them replace the fault light came on again with the same code PCO348. It turned out to be the ide speed unit that was the problem in my case.

Nissan has a crank and cam sensor kit. Install kit. Make sure that sensor with white dot at bolt hole goes to the crank. Clean crank sensor connector w/ brake clean. It will be full of oil. See it all the time. Nissan also has a new software for your ECM/computer. They can reprogram it to help the starting condition. Reprogram is covered by Nissan 8years, 80000 miles.

A common problem on this vehicle is failure of the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Failure of the CKP Sensor will result in the vehicle not starting. The cost to repair the CKP Sensor is estimated at $29.13 for parts and $26.00 for labor.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 S 4 cylinder - went to get gas (just a bit, did not fill up) on Christmas and soon afterward the 'service engine soon' light came on. Called the Nissan dealer

When last did you service the vehicle ?
did they use the proper fuel ?

Chances are the service time is near where you will need to do a basic service, Plug , plug wires, filters etc. And reset the counter.
the fuel ting is just a coincidence.

you bring to a mechanic, they will determine what it is

#1 oil/filtre needs changing

#2 air breather needs replacing + inside cleaning

#3 plugs and wires may need to be replaced

and several other reasons, but these are the most common

Service engine soon light came on. What type of service ie required? I left the car running on a hot day accidently for about 45 minutes. I had two hard starts before it caught several days ago but has...

Service engine soon light came on due to the computer pick up a bad signal from a sensor, go to any auto parts and they will pull codes on your car for free, if your not sure what it means, get back with us here at FixYa and we will help you diag. your trouble code.

My chk at light came on yesterday,my son just

You can't really know unless you get the associated code. Some autoparts places will do this for free. Try Autozone or a local alternitive. Then they will tell you what it means or you can research on line.

Unfortunetly most chk ligt issues won't just go away you have to have them deleted.

Car seemed hesitant when started service engine soon light on

There are many things that can cause the light to come on. Generally if it is serious most 'check engine' or 'service engine' lights will blink. The simplest (and cheapest) method to diagnose the problem is to take the car to AutoZone and they will read the computer codes free of charge and tell you exactly what it is (such as the oxygen sensor got a bad reading and needs a reset, or its time for an oil change... etc.)

Fuel pump 2005 nissan altima

Take it back to where you had it serviced. They probably simply missed connecting the fuel level sensor. The engine light is probably from a missed emissions hose that goes to the gas tank.

Service engine light reset

The "servcie engine soon" light doesn't come on because of an oil change. That means that you have a problem with the car. If the light is just ON steady, than its most likely EVAP system problem or 02 sensor issue. It could be numerous things causing that light to come on , but if the light is flashing, get the car to the dealer ASAP.
