(2002 Dodge Intrepid V6 2.7L. Auto Trans.) Took my car to a transmission shop after check engine light came on. The car has been running ROUGH at low speeds and feels like a big drop/chug when changing gears (automatic trans.) He got Trouble Code P0740 TCC Control Circuit Error. He said basically the computer linking engine to transmission is shot and will cost (ball-park figure) $2200.00 Is this reasonable or should I have other people look at it. It's been this way for a week and he said I few days at best for it to keep running.

The MAP sensor and Knock Sensor are both very easily replaced. A better scanner will tell you which sensor is going bad on your transmission. An Autozone code reader will not tell you which sensor on the trans. is acting up. Most sensors on your trans. are very easity replaced as well. They just screw in and plug it. It's worth paying to get a "real" scan done. The trans. sensors are inexpensive and you can replace any other your listed sensors yourself.

I had the same problem and a friend suggested that I get a filter kit for the transmission. My dodge ram 1500 stopped pulling and had to be towed home. I got a filter kit for the transmission and now the truck is runniing good again and the transmission is shifting ok.To get the code off by going to
Auto Advance and used their code reader to erase the code. My truck has 249K on it and I know the trans will not last forever, but as long as it is running ok. I will live with the codes but make sure the trans fluids are changed every 10k.

same thing happened in my dodge, come to find out it was the transmission module in the computer, computer needs changing out. I got the true reading from auto zone, transmission shop couldnt get right reading for a year and a half, try auto zone first, they can pinpoint your problem and its free, good luck
