(2002 Dodge Intrepid V6 2.7L. Auto Trans.) Took my car to a transmission shop after check engine light came on. The car has been running ROUGH at low speeds and feels like a big drop/chug when changing gears (automatic trans.) He got Trouble Code P0740 TCC Control Circuit Error. He said basically the computer linking engine to transmission is shot and will cost (ball-park figure) $2200.00 Is this reasonable or should I have other people look at it. It's been this way for a week and he said I few days at best for it to keep running.

The MAP sensor and Knock Sensor are both very easily replaced. A better scanner will tell you which sensor is going bad on your transmission. An Autozone code reader will not tell you which sensor on the trans. is acting up. Most sensors on your trans. are very easity replaced as well. They just screw in and plug it. It's worth paying to get a "real" scan done. The trans. sensors are inexpensive and you can replace any other your listed sensors yourself.

SOURCE: RAM 1500 OBD CODE p0700/p0740

I had the same problem and a friend suggested that I get a filter kit for the transmission. My dodge ram 1500 stopped pulling and had to be towed home. I got a filter kit for the transmission and now the truck is runniing good again and the transmission is shifting ok.To get the code off by going to
Auto Advance and used their code reader to erase the code. My truck has 249K on it and I know the trans will not last forever, but as long as it is running ok. I will live with the codes but make sure the trans fluids are changed every 10k.

More results from www.dodgeintrepid.net

More here, but the TCM is not something you say "I think I'll put a new one in my car". You need an auto electrician or a transmission specialist to connect a scan tool computer and diagnose. The issue is more likely shift solenoids than the TCM.

I want to change the 2.7 liter engine in my 1999 dodge intrepid but i'm being told it will most likely have transmission problems after words.is it worth investing the money or just a waste of time? All...

if you are changing the engine i cant see why you would have transmission issues as long as there were no concerns with the trans before the engine swap should be fine i just did a 300m with a 3.5 same basic setup probably the same exact trans it runs fine remove the crank sensor before removing and installing engine to prevent damage to this if you remove the radiator an upper support the motor can be seperated from the engine while trans stays in the car it took all day with hand tools but it was rather simple

Trans, cooler ? Does the Dodge 2002 Intrepid have a transmission cooler, in front of or near the radiator, if so can fluid leaks occur after replacing the main radiator on the car. Have one that has leaked...

Hi:
You are correct. Almost all automatic cars have a transmission cooler connected to the radiator with 2 hoses, near the bottom. If the hoses are leaking or not installed correctly, all of the fluid from your transmission will get pumped out on the ground, and you won't be able to move the car. Inspect the two hoses and hopefully you will find your problem.

2002 dodge intrepid code reads transaxel module

REPORT THAT SHOP TO BBB. If they charged you and didnt fix it they stole your money. If a fix may not fix the car you should be told upfront.
Sounds like you will need a shop that has a scanner capable of transmission fault testing.
Most genisys and snap-on scanners have this capability.

Transmission 2002 dodge intrepid

Ya, trans is done. Internal failure is common on these as well as the caravan - same internal parts, same internal problems. A salvage yard can tell you what years will work with their interchange manuals
