Where is the GMC Jimmy 2001 fuel pump relay located in the car?

Thye fuelpump relay is located to the right of the brake booster. this is for a 1991 gmc jimmy (s-15)

I have enclosed a diagram to help locate the relay.

The most common reason for no fuel pressure on these trucks is not the relay but rather the fuelpump itself. the pump is located inside the fuel tank.

There is also a problem with the wiring to the fuel pump, you will need to locate the top of the tank and then off to side of tank is wiring .
This wiring comes off the top of the tank, you will need to check and there is connector problems..
there is one or two ground wires that come off wiring to top of tank which run to frame, check to make sure the grounds are good. if you end up with a bad pump you will see a notice to rewire a new fuelpump connector. hope this is helpful. good day.

Test for ground and power at your fuel pump connector. Also, the sending units sometimes come without the pump itself wired in. You have to actually splice in connections sometimes. If you get stuck, dropping the tank again and removing the sending unit to inspect could be your next step.

I would replace the harness going to the pump assembly. They are notorious for going bad. A lot of the new pumps come with it. Hope this helps, TJ

its mounted to the top of the gas tank. see diagram below of what it looks like

fuel pump relay is located inside the glovebox. there is a pull away panel in the back left corner, should be the center relay.

The first thing you should do is to locate the oil pressure switch/sending unit.

It's a single wire terminal with plastic connect sensor from the engine block.


This switch serves two functions.

1) provide oil pressure reading

2) disable the fuel pump relay in event of oil pressure loss.

When this switch is failing to provide the correct pressure to the ECU. The wiring harness can overheat and eventually create a short.

ECM1 fuse blow is because the harness is grounding/shorting.

DO NOT drive the truck until you change the oil pressure switch.

After you change the switch,you should spend sometime to inspect the wiring between the fuel pump relay,ECU and fuel pump.

Fuel pump relay is in your gluve box. I belive there are three relay's there and it could be the middle one. Getting old memory bad LOL.

I believe it's the middle relay in the glove box. You should feel the relay click on when you turn the key's, but you only have 2 seconds.
