The SRS sensor light came on and I'm pretty sure it's coming from under the driver's seat. How do I know what to look for? The sheeth holding the wiring together has came loose and there's a plastic screw that needs to be re attached. Is that it? And if so where do I reattach? If not, what do I need to look for?

The usual prob under the seats are the seatbelt pretensioner wiring the connector terminal pins tarnish and go high resistance putting the srs light on or the wiring has rubbed through on the seat movement parts the best way if you can not see a physical problem {disconnect the battery first before you look at the problem} is to get someone with a obd code reader that can communicate with the srs system to get a fault code out. BUT WARNING DO NOT MESS WITH SRS IF YOU DO NO NOT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IT CAN BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT USES PYRO/EXPLOSIVE COMPONENTS

Srs light is on

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

My SRS light comes on and off. I don't know what

It has to do with your airbags. Supplemental Restraint System. This light can be caused by a lot of things including any of the following:
  • Letting battery drain too low
  • Bad Sensor
  • Blown fuse
  • Unplugging the car’s battery
  • Removing the gauge cluster/installing aftermarket gauges
  • G-Force sensors that are under each of the front fenders ($250.00 each)
  • Bad clockspring (located inside your steering wheel)
  • Bad ECU
  • Bad reverse light switch on transmission
  • Car was in an accident
  • Airbag defective/unplugged

It is inspection time and my srs light in my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse is on what is this? i assume srs is something to do with airbags , or restraints not sure but could this be caused by a bad sensor or...

You are right, SRS is to do with the airbags (Secondary Restraint System, the seatbelts being the first!)

It is almost certainly a bad sensor or a fault with an airbag squib (the thing that fires the bag.)

I would advise against DIY fault-finding. Let a professional look at it using proper diagnostic equipment.

Hope this helps!

SRS light

SRS if you didn't already know is your secondary restraint system (airbags)...... you can try resetting it by unhooking the battery for about ten minutes.... before you do that you may want to go down to autozone and have them scan the codes to see what it is showing.

Srs light

Well thats one of two things. First the srs light stands for Supplemental Restraint System or in otherwords the airbag system now the light being on could be because its due for a maintance check up or there could be a problem with the system

02 honda accord v6 SRS light on

SRS = Safety Restraint System. Work all your seatbelts, make sure they snap in & release properly. If you have the system where it detects someone in seat without belt on, may be a sticky switch under seat, may be able to fix it just by sitting in seat then getting out of it, or hitting seat cushion with hand, look for things like that. Also check owners manual for location of possible air bag fuse blown. If you can't cure it, stop at shop or dealer & have it checked, just in case it is airbag not working.
