1998 Nissan Altima Logo

Hello, I own a 1998 Altima (GXE). 160 000 km. For the last two days, the motor temperature guage needle indicates low motor temperature (1/4 between the C and the H). Yesterday I was in heavy traffic for more than an hour. I notice the needle being a bit lower than usual for the whole drive except that when traffic picked up and was driving at regular highway speed (70 km/hr), the needle got even closer to the C! Its quite cold in Montreal these days, however it is nothing new and never the car behave such a way. This morning, I notice again the temperature needle to be under its regular position. I notice that the heat coming out of the vents to warm up the inside of the car is not as warm like it usually is. Can you please help me? Thank u very much.

First thing is the that the coolant temperature sensor is quite different to the temperature sender that is monitored on your dash board. Assuming everything is working fine the thermostat may be stuck open. This would cause coolant to be circulated without restriction and so remaining cooler than usual even when the engine is at running temperature.

Is there a low fuel light for my 1998 lumina?

The 98 lumina LTZ has No light on dash for low fuel, there is not an indicator for low fuel except for the guage. Don't wait for a light to flash, or you will run out of fuel:)

I have a 96 Nissan Altima GXE with the 2.4 liter motor that has a problem code coming up P1401 do u know what it is

this code is telling you something is wrong with your EGR temp sensor circuit, this is due to an extreme low or high voltage detection from the sensor by your cars ECM computer. check the harness connections or check/ place your EGR temperature sensor, this should solve your issue, thanks

1998 Nissan Altima GXE squealing noise

Could be the bearings in your alternator have gone dry and your alternator is about to quit out on you. I had a friend with an 01 altima and we could always hear him coming before we saw him because of this very problem. Changed the alternator out and noise went away. Thanks for using FixYa!
