I went for an oil change when the oil change light came on. I got the car back and the light was still on. I asked the oil changing place to reset it and they said they did but it was still on. Later I had the problem with another vehicle and the tech looked up a way to shut off the light by holding down some buttons when the engine switch was turned. So I was hoping some one coud tell me how do you reset the light on my 98 Olds Intrigue?
Well, it is in the manual under engine oil. turn key to on, dont start. press gas pedel to the floor "slowly" 3 times within 5 seconds. if the change oil light flashes, its resetting. If not, repeat.. this worked for me.
Turn key to "On" but do not start the engine. Depress the gas pedal to the floor and back 3 times within 5 seconds. Turn key off. When you restart the car the oil change light should go out. If it doesn't then it needs to be dealer serviced.

Call a local oil change shop and ask. I asked some guys once and I think it involved putting the car in neutral with the key turn over but the engine off and tapping the brakes 3 or 4 times.
If you happen to have the owner's manual with the car, there is a step by step instructions on how to re-set the oil change light. I know this is much to go on but I'm positive that the sequence is in the manual.
