Replaced starter in 99 Saturn. Battery went dead, got new one ...same thing. REPLACED ALT. SAME THING. Had alt tested, it was good. Wont hold a charge, wont start. Could starter wires be crossed?

Instead of guessing (could wires be crossed ) Testing the electrical circuits is the way to find the problem . Battery goes dead when ? over night ,while driving the vehicle ? If it goes dead overnight you have a parasitic drain on the electrical system . Look at a wiring diagram an check the wires for correct hook up . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size . under system click engine then under subsystem click starting . Click the search button ,then the blue link . Really don't think you could cross the wire's ,only two size wires (connectors ) . only hooks up one way.

If you can't find the problem after viewing these videos your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

1987 Nissan sent a hatchback wiring diagram 2yellow wires are off so the car will not start but I have no idea where the wires go.

You need to check the STARTER SOLENOID.. to see if the connectors are appropriate to the terminals on the starter (or if the STARTER IS EVEN THERE).

If this is a USA vehicle..
You can register and get FREE CIRCUIT DRAWINGS
from BBBB Industries
(see below)

You will be required to check the wiring diagrams and agree to their END USER Agreement
(standard for proprietary information).

Keeps blowing starter fuse has new starter does it every once in a while

Check and follow the wires check for cuts, tears loose wires. Usually the starter wires lead to the battery check around that area. Check the connections on the starter maybe it's grounding where it's not suppose to.

Check the battery too I had a battety that moved and arc into the hood it would engage the the starter while the car was running all kinds of strange things.

So the reason i believe its the starter. Yesterday car wouldnt turnover. No click at all. Not even with jump. I hit the starter with a hammer a couple of times and it started. Though it started really slow...

You didn't say what make of car, but if it is Chev, Chrysler or similar that has the solenoid mounted on the starter you may have crossed the small wires on the solenoid switch.

I put a starter on my car it wouldnt crank it tried to but wont it was making a dragging sound then started clicking and the battery went dead then i tried it again and a spark and smoke came from the...

Sounds like a wiring issue. You may have crossed the wires going to the solenoid. This would account for both the sparks and smoke. Be careful, you can blow up a battery if you have wires reversed. Double check the battery cables to ensure they too are not crossed.

My husband did a tune up on my car yesterday and now it wont start it will turn over like it wants to start but it wont he said that its miss firing we have bought 3 new coil packs and still will not start...

If your car is miss firing and your husband changed the coil packs, the wires leading from coil packs to sparkplugs must have got crossed. This will change car timing which will result in the car miss firing. He needs to go over wiring and correct problem for car to run right. You can go online to autozone.com and type in Info about car to get the correct wiring layout.Your problem isnt the new plugs n wires. Its the wiring layout.
