My 2001 Dodge Diesel truck has been losing power at certain times. Generally when I am needing more power than just cruising down the road, such as going up a hill or incline. It will sort of "lock up" and start losing speed and RPMS. Even with the gas pedal pushed to the floor, it will start slowing down and lose RPMS. Then it will suddenly "break loose" and off we go. Sometimes it will do it for a few seconds, and sometimes for 5 minutes.

SOURCE: Losing Power

2.5L is really lacking on power. what had to do is route the air inlet tube for the filter box to the front of the truck right beside the radiator that what it pushes air into the motor and have more power. now the truck gets better gas mileage and has more power to get over the hill. only thing is the filter gets dirty more often and gas mileage goes down in the winter cause the cold air makes it use more gas

SOURCE: no cruise control available light comes on, and

never heard of this before ,so obviously the cruise control is allowing the throttle to work then when it has a cough it puts engine on limp or slow speed .this vehicle is fly by wire so try changing the sensors on the pedals .Or just put it into dealers because if the correct part isnt known then changing parts willy nilly could cost more than a dealer repair

SOURCE: 2002 regal would slow down going up hills then

the catalytic converter most likely is no the sorurce of the problem, older design bead type Cat converters used to plug, but it is very rare on the newer ceramic honeycomb cats, u need to have the electronic engine control tested, are u getting a check engije light? if not has the fuel filter been replaced every 30,000 miles? also a part called the Mass Airflow sensor can cause these symptoms as well as igntion system problems.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel loses power while driving.

I would remove the tank and check the rubber hose that comes from the fuel pump to the top of the tank/gage mechanism, if there is a crack in the hose it would explain why there isnt much fuel being delivered to the motor, since it will be partly sucking air.

Transmission surge at cruise

check the rpm and road speed when this happens . The cruise control will increase to keep RPM constant but as the road speed drops the auto may be shifting down and as the rpm increase it shifts back before the rpm adjusts. You can override a cruise control in this situation by simply pressing down on the accelerator to maintain the power setting and road speed and when the situation is passed and you take your foot of the accelerator the cruise control will return the system to the set position without you needing to do anything

24 value cummins, ok my truck at times will lose all power and act like it dies going down the road but if u will just keep on the gas for a sec it will pick back up then it will do it every half mile when...

It's most likely your throttle. Your fuel pedal is electronic and these will wear out. If you watch this problem you will see it happens at a certain RPM range.
