Hi I have the same problem it will start when fuel sprays in the throttle body all day long and then go to start it again and no fuel and I have to spray starting fluid .I also noticed when I turn the key on the oil pressure pegs high. While Im trying to start the engine it jumps back and fourth and after it starts the pressure is fine. I have changed the following fuel pump, filter, distibutor, coil, sensors, starter, Thanks Frank

Your problem may be the fuel pressure regulator, located on the end of the fuel [rack] just before the injectors.the reason the oil pressure jumps is because the motor is'nt running right.spraying starting fluid into it may cause engine damage, such as a blown head gasket, engine piston rings collaspe,it take 180 pounds of pressure from the fuel pump, just to run the engine right. you're problem may be there,or a restriction in the fuel lines, such as sucking air before the fuel reaches the engine, look for a pin hole in fuel line. seen any fuel in parking space? try cardboard under truck at idle, when not in use. suggest also lucas fuel treatment in gas tank, you may only have a blockage in fuel line due to ethanol gas! hope this helps and as always there are online chats, phone support, and e-mail help with fixya.com merry christmas from me and mine to you and yours!!

My 95 Lincoln Town Car has decided that it does not want to start. I have replaced fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor, cam position sensor, and crankshaft sensor, and last

It would probably help to get the car on a scan tool with live data readouts to see what is happening when the car is not starting. Also a spark tester and fuel pressure gauge could help diagnose whats happening or not happening when the car wont start.

2000 dodge intrepid wont stay running

Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.

97 gmc siera on cold days have to dump fuel into throttle body to start, runs fine after??

look into throttle body while cranking.see if you see fuel spray.if not, low fuel pressure of pluged fuel filter. also coolant temp or tps sensor could be at fault.have vehicle sensors scan tested for values..

It sounds like you need an oxygen sensor. You are not getting the proper air-fuel ratio. murf427

well first of all. check to see if fuel is reaching engine, the line may be frozen. if so, put dry gas in to displace moisture in fuel line. just make sure its getting fuel and spark. try this! spray some starting fluid in throttle body. and if car runs then quits then you have a fuel problem. im from n.y. state and it gets pretty cold here in winter. just remove air intake hose to throttle body to spray in it, the big hose from air cleaner. have a good day !!

your on the right track, you need three things to run an engine spark fuel and air,you can test your pump another way its primitive take 2+2 carb cleaner get access to your throttle body have someone try starting the engine while another sprays the carburetor cleaner into the throttle body if it runs while you spray and then stops when you dont your fuel pump is the problem.Chrysler is know for this fuel pump problem.

cold start sensor is faulty. basically when you start a car from cold, the sensor mixes the air and fuel to allow more fuel to air ratio to start the car. as the engine warms the air fuel mixture weakens to give a economical fuel consumption.hence your car starts warm.

2000 chevy surburban 1500 will crank but no start. waited one day then started. Ran for a week. Stopped again. Waited one day no start. Waited three days started again. Any suggestions??

more than likely your fuel pump went out. it's in the tank. you can try spraying carb cleaner in your throttle body and have someone crank it. spray small amount of carb cleaner beware of backfire. do not acclerate while cranking. if vehicle turns on its your fuel pump

2002 ford taurus won't start at first crank in the morning

remove the air filter housing from the throttle body, or if its mult-ported injection, remove the large air duct. Do this the night before. The next day, before cranking and having a spray can of carb. cleaner, spray a couple of shots of carb cleaner either into the large air duct, spray towards the engine, or if its single body injection, spray directly on to the throttle body.

Crank engine immediately, preferrably have some one else sitting in the car to start it after you spray.

If the car even tries to start, replace cold start relay.
