Our car has the keyless entry/kill switch. We stopped using it several years ago when we couldn't find replacements for the original keys. A week ago when we went to start the car the alarm sounded and hhe car wouldn't start. We were eventually able to reset the system but it happened again and we could not reset it. Battery? system short? Our current option is to have it towed to a dealer in town - any suggestions

If you have a "factory system", cycling the key in the ignition on-off 5 times will shut off the alarm.

check if their is a fuse for the relay for the starter might be blown

If it is a factory remote it is either for the trunk release or the "panic" feature. Are the buttons not labeled?

the car has a kill switch. turn the key to on position and live it for 30 seconds and se if it resets.

you can get a replacement at your local Toyota dealer.But in the me time you can remove the fuse to disable your alarm.Some vehicles have the fuse mounted in the engine compartment and some are inside the car.Look in the owner manual for exact fuse and location.If you need more info write back and I will further assist you Thank you.
