I need to know the direction of 2001 nissan xterra fuel filter, I took the other off and forgot to notice the direction it needs to be put back on

If it matters, the new filter will have an arrow showing the direction of fuel flow. Most in-line filters it doesn't matter. There are a couple out there that do, and the filter will say which way they go

maybe got to drop the tank to get to the top of the tank and take the lock ring off to remove fuel pump from inside the tank while dropping the tank take care not to rip the harness wires to the pump and sending unit and also change the fuel filters always when putting a pump on.

Fuel pickup screen clogged/fuel filter clogged/fuel pump failing/fuel line erosion clogging itself AND filter.

try using some starting fluid it is possible that the fuel pump burnt out from running dry, if starting fluid works then it is a fuel problem ie air in the line, clogged filter, bad regulator, damaged jet, clogged jets, no pressure , .....

check manual for a fuel system reset switch .good luck

It has been my experience with imports that their fuel filters typically are located either in the gas tank or in the fuel line from the gas tank to the pump. It will mostlikely be mounted to the frame of the vehicle and be metal.

Remove glove box and in cabin microfilter door will be right there. Note on some Xterras there is no filter installed and the box will need to be cut out in order to install kit. This is a fairly easy task that can be done in the vehicle. Just follow the directions and you should be ok.

When you took out the air filter you pulled off the snorkle to the throttle chamber. Just reinstall it and it should be fine.
