My car still on warranty and the dashboard has a crack the dealer offer to put the part and I pay the labor but I still believe it is a manufaturer deffect, what can I do?

The glass is tempered. Any small stress points can build up unevenly in the crystalline structure. Cadillac has a HUGE problem in their CUE screen cracking. Been going on for years. Even denying units under warranty. $2000 repair (with labor).

Rather than paying a dealer $1200 replace the unit, there are services around that will replace just the glass in your head unit. Heres an exampme:

Well unless you have have an extended warranty warranty that covers entire drivetrain than I doubt its a warranty problem. However if you were refering to a factory recall and free dealer replacement they are generally used to fix serious safety issues which possess a threat of serious personal injury or death while operating that specific make/model/series of vehicle. You can check the tsb's (technical service bulletins) for your vehicle and sometimes there will be a new part or service that can be used to fix that problem but you would need to pay for that part and/or labor if you have the dealer correct it.

depends on where you buy the core and who puts it in. cores can be had from 50-200 dollars, look on ebay or advance and then call a dealer for a price on the core. while you talk to the dealer ask how much time it takes a trained tech to replace it. then call around and get labor rates at different shops. pulling a dashboard is not something your typical shop does often. So i would rather pay a heating and A/C auto repair shop 40 an hour than a general repair shop 30 and hour. One guy pulls and replaces dashboards all week long whereas the other guy may do two a year so the first guy is a lot faster at it.

almost all heater cores are located under the dashboard, just above the passenger's feet, encased in a black plastic box. It ain't easy to take the dash apart and change it. I would first make sure it is not under the GM warranty as 5 years is too short a life for the core. If it is out of warranty then I would get a new core at a parts store and pay an auto heating and air conditioning repair shop to put it in. That way you beat the high dealer parts and labor price.

It sounds like the fuel pump, that is a fairly common problem with that vehicle. Have the fuel pressure checked. Pumps are not cheap but I would recommend going with a factory GM pump which most dealers offer a lifetime warranty on parts and labor. If you purchase after market the are not as reliable and generally no dealer will give you a labor warranty.

The dashoboard assembly can be very expensive, I would look for the part via a junkyard, a car can be in a junkyard and still have a decent dash. The labor for this job is ussually between 7 to 10 hours charged to you, at an average rate of $65 to $95 an hour, I would go to a smaller shop, but make sure they have a good reputation, there is allot that someone can mess up when performing this.

2004 Infiniti FX35 dash board may be mfg issue for Infiniti and you may look to them to solve the problem. I had the problem and they covered the dash part at 100%. I had to pay labor. Wound up at about $200. I had 84,000 miles on the car and outside warranty by over 15 months. Tells me they recognize an issue and will stand behind it. Be pleasant at dealer but insist they request support.
