Occassionally my 2002 Pontiac Bonneville will not start. (about one out of 10-15 starting attempts) It does not throw a fault code and the fuel pressure is in the normal range. It turns over fine but acts as if it is not getting fuel or the electronics are not letting the fuel ignite. The problem normally happens when the car is shut off and then restarted within 15 minutes. Letting it sit for an hour before restarting has always "cured" the problem. Also, occassionally while driving it will "baulk" momentarily. The fuel filter has been replaced. Any advice on this problem is apprediated.

It will not start and it is acting like it is no getting any gas

When turning the key to the ON position without starting the engine, you should hear the fuel pump running for 5 seconds. If heard the oil pressure switch is doing its job operating the circuit to the pump. If not heard the oil switch is at fault. Upon starting the engine the oil switch has a 3rd wire running to the fuel pump. When the engine fires and oil pressure is achieved, the computer shuts off the oil switch and tuns on the fuel pump relay. If the pump runs with the key on replace the relay. You say it will not start at all so probably the oil sending unit or switch we'll cal it is at fault

Yes you can do it...In repair centre your car will be undergoing a scan with computer which will throw out the fault codes...Once you get the fault codes it will describe which part is faulty what must be replaced, why..

So instead of shooting in the dark it will be like hit the fault and get it rectified..Most autozone shops does the scanning for free...

I have a 2000 Bonneville - I had a problem with the car stalling out - then it did not want to start back up. (When it did it would idle up and down and then die) I changed out the mass air flow sensor - now I have not had a problem. Good luck with it.
