When the engine is warmed up (been driven for 45 minutes to 1 hour), at speeds of 45 - 65 MPH the front end (including the seats and steering wheel) vibrate - like the car is going to fall apart. It's stronger at 65 MPH than at 45 MPH. The problem appears to be corrected by pulling over, putting the car in "park" and then back into "drive" before pulling out again. What is wrong with this car? I'm afraid to drive it because I never know when this is going to happen. (It has happened 3 times in the past month since I bought the car in June. I have had it to the shop 3 times. I called On Star during the last episode and they did a diagnostic that said - everything was fine, but my husband and I were being shaken to death!)
This sounds like is a lost joint in the engine or a broken gear box
Evidently the car is not OK, if it vibrates strongly at certain speed it is also dangerous to drive. If the vibration is communicated straight to steering wheel it can also be a problem with front wheels and front axis.
Take it back to garage again and have job done free of charge, or with only additional parts charge, as they did not fix the car first time. Ensure you explain the problem in detail to the mechanics, so that they can test the car at proper speed.
Check that wheels are mounted properly (no missing screws etc), reading your post more carefully it sounds more like a broken axis or something not well in place in the front traction area.
