I have a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 with a 4800 vortec engine. it starts and idels fine but when ever i give it gas, the engine starts to sputter and dies. ive already changed the fuel filter and spark plug wires.

If the engine is turning over than none of the things you replaced will make the engine"start". You will need to check for fuel pressure and spark first.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer with a 4.3 vortec motor,my problem is when i'm cruising at a steady speed the engine surges it usually happens around 45-50 mph

ENGINE SURGING COULD BE WEAK FUEL PUMP, STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER,BAD TORQUE CONVERTER SOLENOID OR TORQUE CONVERTER. OR FAULTY TPS.

FIRST CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE AT IDLE AND WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE OFF.
CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER LATELY?

When I give my truck gas it sputters and then finally gets in gear. Once it starts going it is fine.

try cleaning the throttle body. use brake clean and a small brush. clean it as much as you can including the back side of the throttle plate. when done with that start the engine and rev it up spray some of the cleaner into the throttle. you don't have to use all of it. hope this helps you it helped me a lot

they might have not put the proper gap on the plugs..and might have over filled the engine with too much oil..

2001 chevy silverado 4.8 gas gauge not working properly

Fairly common problem with GM vehicles. The sending unit in your tank has a small circuit board that an arm is attached to which moves up and down according to your fuel level. This circuit board and arm are not making good contact. Unfortunately the only good solution is to replace this part.

buy a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze and put them in the gas tank.... sounds like water in your fuel.

This sounds llike weak feul pressure, the fuelpump may need replacing, the first thing to do is have the fuel pressure tested and if the pressure is low then have the pump replaced. the pump is located inside the fuel tank and the tank will need to be dropped to replace the pump, good luck ,

Could also be the fuel pressure regulator...much cheaper and easier fix than the fuel pump. I'd try that first, part is around $50 and very easy to replace. I had the same problem on mine and it fixed it.
