There is no PATS override button. PATS is Passive Anti-Theft System. It is a transponder chip in the key, and a transceiver ring around the ignition lock cylinder. The Ring looks for the correct chip in a key in order to allow the vehicle to start. A bypass or override button in the vehicle completely advantage of having the chip system and would render is useless in entirety.
Sorry you can't. Ford's suck because you have to have two keys to reprogram the security to the keys. Last one I had done cost about $200. Dealer only.
In most cases you will have to drill it. There are videos on Youtube that show how its done. Most all Ford locks in the late 80s and early 90s are the same style.
The airbag is there, what's most likely wrong is the key switch may be going bad. Take your Ranger to a reputable mechanic and ask them to check it...unless you have an OBD II or a multimeter.
A local mechanic can fix it....that is a very easy cylnder to replace. You might be able to do it yourself...let me know if you would like detailed instructions.
If you goto a mechanic, domt let them charge you more than 1.3 hours labor...that is what the time guide calls for. And the lock cyl. should cost you no more than $50.
