Question about 1988 Ford Ranger
When i turn the key over i get thi high pitched noise its almost like a grinding noise, im not sure. it all happened when i replaced the solenoid because it wouldnt start. i'm pretty sure i have everything hooked up to it correctly, i even replaced the starter thinking that might have been it, but i put it in and i am still getting that noise. i am not mechanically inclined at all so im clueless. andy help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
ps when i bypass the solenoid i dont get the "noise" but it still wont start.
Did you get the right starter? Did you put the starter straight? Did you lock the screw evenly? where this noise from? You mentioned the noise like high pitch grinding noise, is it from the starter area or flying wheel?
