I have a 2001 Ford Windstar and the brakes went out on me earlier in the week. I was able to nurse it in to a repair shop. They said the wheel cylinder ruptured. They replaced both rear wheel cylinders, brakes, and drums. I paid over $400, when I picked it up and left I tested the brakes and the van had a terrible vibration. I took it back and they claimed it was from the front and replaced the front rotors and brakes and tie rod ends. another $400. It is still vibrating when I hit the brakes any thoughts. Also now the engine has a miss any ideas what can cause the miss. I am supposed to leave in the morning for a vacation. Any help would be appreciated I am little afraid to go now with the van.

Wow, thats alot of money to put out, don't see any relation between the engine misfire and the brake work you had repaired, however a vibration in the steering wheel usually indicated warped rotors, be sure they did the work you paid them for and visually inspect your front tires, i have seen ball joints ( i think you have struts though) and choppy front tires also cause this vibration

The vibration could be caused by the engine missing, or otherwise may well be that the emergency brake adjustment wheel was not properly adjusted when the were reassembling the drum brakes in the rear.
You have been ripped off. The problem your van was having did not call for all of the work which was performed, and even if it had, those prices are absolutely out of line with what an honest repair shop would charge.

Brake light staying on. on my 2001 ford windstar what might it be

check your master cylinderr fluid level. If full brakes may be worn badly or master cyoinder may be going bad.. if brakes are ok change brake sending unit usually located on master cylinder. do noty drive until you are positive your brakes are good. if fluid level is low in master look for brake fluid under car usually on back of wheel.if no brake fluid on back of wheel inspect brake lines for a hole usually rusted through. if this is helpful please leave me positive feedback.

2003 Windstar cruise control won't turn of by pressing the off button on steering wheel.

That sounds a lil dangerous. You should be able to shut it off by tapping the brake pedal. Ford has recalls on some of these controllers. You may be able to contact the dealer for a free repair if the vehicle is still on the recall list.

Knocking sounds

Windstar's are notorious for having intake manifold air leaks, they even make a kit to repair it. I would send it to a repair shop as it is a time consuming repair.

I'm leaking brake fluid by front wheel. can I shut brake fluid off to that wheel??

Your front brakes provide most of the stopping power, its not advisable to disable either of the front brakes.
