Hold the steering wheel to the right as far and as hard as you can while turning the key to start the car. I know you said you tried moving it to the left and the right but try this specifically. Some cars have locking steering wheels to prevent theft. Good luck
Put foot on brake, turn ignition on and start car
Switch barrel may be broken .

I am sorry but there is no way to operate the seat without power function working unless you take the whole thing apart.
SOURCE: Ignition locked up
I have seen this compaint many times, it is caused by the lock pins getting broken or jammed, you will have to replace the ignition lock cylinder to repair this.

Your ignition lock probably has sticky pin inside of tumbler.
Try spraying some WD40 or PB Blast into the key cylinder.

The problem probably is in the contacts of the spiral cable Where it is plugged in. if so, the part will have to be replaced. it is pretty easy to do if you can get the steering wheel off, pretty much just unplug it, and remove the clip that holds it to the steering shaft
SOURCE: Steering wheel locked.. can't move key ...
I had the same problem , I tried all sorts of jiggling didn't work , a mate came over and rocked the steering wheel left to right, while trying to turn the key ( But) while trying to turn the key, keep pulling the key out of the lock by small increments . This worked for us . when it happened to ours it was like the key was going in too far . Hope that helps . Kev
